ON TAP
Detroit battles two-time national finalist Butler in a Saturday matinee on ESPN2. Butler is a game ahead of the Titans in the jammed Horizon League standings, after Butler defeated Wright State Thursday.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Butler is 13-11 overall and 7-5 in league play heading into Saturday's game. Andrew Smith is the lone Bulldog to average double figures in scoring with his 10.2 points per game clip. He's also their top rebounder with 5.4 caroms per game. BU is 8-4 at Hinkle this season.

THE SERIES WITH BUTLER
BU leads the all-time series, 43-28, in one of the longest rivalries in Horizon League. Detroit's win earlier this season snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Dawgs that dated back to the 2006 season.

THE FIRST MEETING THIS SEASON
Five Titans were in double figures as 4,149 fans witnessed Detroit jump out to a 17-point first-half lead en route to a 76-65 win over Butler Jan. 8 at Calihan Hall. Junior Jason Calliste led all scorers with 16 as the home team went 9 of 16 from distance in the win. Detroit's nine triples tied a season high and Ray McCallum's seven assists were a season best as well.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Detroit returns home to host a Friday-Sunday series. Milwaukee is the opponent Friday night for an ESPN3 contest at 7:00 p.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. tip on Feb. 12 against Green Bay.

LAST TIME OUT
Five players scored in double digits for Detroit in a balanced attack, but a career-high 26 points by Ryan Broekhoff led host Valparaiso to a 78-73 win at the Athletics-Recreation Center Thursday night in Horizon League action.  Broekhoff helped Valpo (16-8, 9-3 HL) dig out from under a nine-point halftime deficit with a 6-for-6 effort from three-point range. Eli Holman, Ray McCallum and Chase Simon all had 14 to pace the Detroit attack.

IN THE TOP 20
With 14 points Thursday, senior Chase Simon cracked the top 20 in Detroit's all-time scoring list. Simon, who has 1,244 career points in a Detroit uniform (98 at Central Michigan) to his credit, cruised past Tony Tolbert-- who also transferred to UDM (from Michigan).

BACK IN INDY
Freshman P.J. Boutte will return to the Circle City Saturday, his hometown. Boutte played at Indianapolis' T.C. Howe High School, where he broke the state's all-time career assists mark.

HOOSIER HOSPITALITY?
With Thursday's losses by Wright State and Detroit, no team-- since Valparaiso joined the Horizon League in 2007-- has gone through the Indiana road trip with two wins. Valparaiso and Butler have combined to give every visiting team at least one loss since becoming travel partners. 34 teams have attempted the feat, but no team has left the state without at least one loss on its record following the trip. Detroit is 0-9 at the Indiana schools since Valpo joined the league.

DUNK ANDERSON
Junior Doug Anderson can dunk, simply put. The high-flyer has 43 dunks on 81 field goal makes this season. His latest jam earned him the top play on ESPN SportsCenter's top 10 on Thurs., Feb. 2 for a ferocious right-handed rim-rocker that left Kevin Van Wijk in his wake. He has at least one slam in every game this season except three. He had a season-high five dunks against Alabama State (Dec. 22), part of ten Titan throwdowns in the win.

TIMES SET
Detroit learned it would play James Madison in the Sears BracketBusters on Feb. 18. That game is set for a 2:00 p.m. tip. Also, the Feb. 10 game vs. Milwaukee, aired on ESPN3, will start at 7:00 p.m. from Calihan Hall.

ON THE TUBE
The next three Titan games will all be broadcast by television entities and a fourth happens for the season finale. ESPN2 will handle the Butler game on Feb. 4 and ESPN3 will be the destination for the Feb. 10 contest with Milwaukee. Fox Sports Detroit will air the Feb. 12 home game against Green Bay and the Feb. 25 regular season finale at Youngstown State will be the Horizon League's “Game of the Week” and will air locally on WADL-TV 38.

RAY EARNS WEEKLY HONOR
Sophomore Ray McCallum picked-up his first Horizon League Player of the Week honor this season after an outstanding week in leading Detroit to a pair of wins. McCallum, on the strength of a season-high 26 points in the win over UIC on Friday, averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week. It was the second honor of his young career and he became the first Titan to win it this season.
