The second-seeded Titans (20-12) got to this point after cruising past #7 Cleveland State, 79-43, in the HL quarterfinals and downing #3 Wright State, 78-70, yesterday in the semifinals. The top-seeded Phoenix – ranked #10 nationally in both polls – come into the game with a 29-1 record and its only blemish to the Titans back in mid-February.

A win would give Detroit its third Horizon League Championship (1987, 1997) in school history and just its second-ever NCAA Tournament berth following the title in 1997, when head coach Autumn Rademacher was a star senior guard for Detroit. (In 1987, there was not a conference tournament as U-D won the regular season).

THE DETROIT-GREEN BAY SERIES
The last time these two teams played, the Titans came out on top, 70-58, but Green Bay still leads the overall series, 35-6.

Detroit won four of the first five meetings in the series, which dates back to 1995, but Green Bay has owned the series from there on winning 34 of the last 37 since 1998.

Detroit is also 2-18 all-time in road games against Green Bay with head coach Autumn Rademacher a part of the two wins.

Detroit defeated the Phoenix, 63-55, on Mar. 9, 1997, when a Titan team led by Autumn Rademacher won their first Horizon League Championship title to advance to their only NCAA Tournament. The other was this year.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
Green Bay rebounded from the loss to the Titans to win the last seven games of the regular season and with its two tournament wins, the Phoenix come into the game with a 29-1 record.

The Phoenix is ranked #10 in both polls and led the Horizon League in scoring with 75.1 points per game.

Horizon League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Julie Wojta tops the HL in scoring (19.5), rebounding (10.1) and steals (3.6).

ALL-TIME AGAINST RANKED TEAMS
Detroit has played 10 ranked teams since Autumn Rademacher returned to her alma mater as head coach in 2008 and has recorded three wins.

During the 2008-09 season, Detroit took down No. 23 Georgia at home, 70-66, while during the 2009-10 season, UDM beat No. 22 Green Bay, 71-55, also in Calihan Hall.

The Titans are now coming off a big 70-58 triumph at #9/9 Green Bay.

W - 70-58 at No. 9/9 Green Bay, Feb. 9, 2012

UDM is now 5-44 all-time against ranked teams in its history with four of the wins coming in the Motor City.

Besides the afore mentioned victories over Green Bay and Georgia, the Titans defeated No. 3 Kansas on Feb. 14, 1981, and No. 9 North Carolina State, 60-59, on Dec. 5, 1981.

TITANS KNOCK OFF #9/9 GREEN BAY
The Detroit Titans earned one of their biggest wins in school history as UDM went into the Kress Center and ended Green Bay's perfect season with a 70-58 victory.

The win also ended Green Bay's school record 40-game regular season winning streak as well as the Phoenix' 36-game regular season winning streak over Horizon League teams.

HL POSTSEASON HISTORY
Detroit has two Horizon League championships to its credit. The Titans captured the 1987 title with a 21-6 record and a 10-2 mark in MCC play, as there was no tournament held.

UDM's other championship came with current head coach Autumn Rademacher leading the way in 1997 as Detroit defeated Wright State, Milwaukee and Green Bay - in Green Bay - to raise the banner and advance to its only NCAA Tournament.

For her efforts, Rademacher was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Titans have also finished runner-up four times (1999, 2002, 2003, 2004) with each loss in the championship game to the Phoenix.

ALL-TIME TOURNAMENT RECORD
The Titans are 23-20 all-time in the HL's postseason tournament, including a 4-1 record as the second-seeded team.

The only other time Detroit was a No. 2 seed was in 1999 as the Titans reached the title game beating #7 UIC and #3 Butler before falling to Green Bay.

SIXTH TRIP TO THE FINALS
Detroit is making its sixth trip to the title game and the first under head coach Autumn Rademacher.

The last trip to the championship was in 2004 when the third-seeded Titans fell to top-seeded Green Bay, 66-54.

UDM captured its only tournament title in 1997 defeating Green Bay on the road, but have lost its last four championship games, all to Green Bay, including the last two in Green Bay.

JOINING THE MEN IN THE DANCE
Only twice in HL history has the same school produced both of the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournament participants.

In 2006, it was Milwaukee that won both the men's and women's tournaments, while Xavier did it in 1993.

A LOOK BACK AT 1997'S GAME
In the Titans' 1997 MCC Championship victory over Green Bay, Detroit jumped out to a 36-23 lead.
Green Bay fought back to get within two with less than a minute left, but Autumn Rademacher's 3-pointer sealed the 63-55 win for the red, white and blue.

Rademacher ended with 12 points, while Jocelyn Boyd had a team-high 14.

POSTSEASON PLAY IN THE BOOKS
Regardless of the outcome of the title game, Detroit already knows it will be playing some postseason basketball.

Obviously, if the Titans win the HL Championship, they will be heading to the NCAA Tournament, but if they lose, they will earn the Horizon League's automatic bid to the WNIT for finishing in second place during the regular season.

The 64-team postseason WNIT is composed of 33 automatic bids from each established conference. That automatic bid is given to the highest-finishing team in its conference's regular-season standings that is not selected to the NCAA's

A trip to the NCAA Tournament would be the second in school history (1997), while the WNIT appearance would be the first in school history.

WHAT A PERFORMANCE
The 36-point victory over Cleveland State in the quarterfinals was the biggest by the Titans in a Horizon League Tournament game since defeating Wright State by 39 (86-47) in a quarterfinals contest in 1997.

The 43 points allowed were the fewest by a Titan opponent in a tournament game since beating UIC, 63-43, in the first-round in 2003.

Detroit led 34-11 at the half against Cleveland State holding the Vikings to just 3-of-26 (11.5%) from the field in the first half and 23.5% shooting for the game (13-of-55).

UDM outscored CSU, 23-2, in the final 15:42 minutes of the first half and the Vikings hit just one field goal between 15:42 in the first and 19:01 in the second.

TOURNAMENT RECORDS
Detroit has seen players net 20 or more points 13 times in the Horizon League Tournament, with the Titan record set at 31 by Heather Longar against Evansville in 1992.

Freshman Shareta Brown nearly broke that with 30 against Wright State in the semifinals.

A Titan has recorded 12 or more rebounds just eight times, with the mark held by India Bruster, who pulled down 19 at Green Bay in 2007.

UDM has also seen seven players collect a double-double with current Titan Yar Shayok the last to do it with 19 points and 11 boards against Butler in 2010.

WHERE'S THE PARTY AT?
Fans, PARTY with the Titans on Sunday at Calihan Hall. The Athletic Department is hosting a watch party for the women's game in the Titan Club at 1 p.m.

Detroit will also have a home women's lacrosse game that starts at noon and then there is the men's basketball NCAA selection show party later in the day.

DETROIT BASKETBALL!!!
The Detroit men's basketball just won the Horizon League Championship and now the women are looking to do the same.

Both teams have had a bit of a roller coaster season, but have turned it on since slow starts as the men were 3-6 through their first nine and the women were 1-8.

In fact since Dec. 18, the two teams have combined for a 36-9 record with the women at 19-4 and the men at 17-5

FOUR MORE
The Titans had four players in double figures against Wright State, the second-straight game UDM has done that after five Titans tallied double digits against Cleveland State.

It also marked the fifth time in school history that four or more Titans have scored in double digits in a Horizon League Tournament game.

BACK TO NORMAL
After going 29-of-57 (50.8%) from the free throw line in its last three games of the regular season, UDM has now hit 29-of-35 (82.8%) through the first two games of the Horizon League Championship.

TITANS VICTORY TOTAL RISING
With its Horizon League semifinals victory over Wright State its last time out, the Titans have now posted 20 wins on the season, the most in head coach Autumn Rademacher's four years at Detroit and the seventh 20-win season in school history.

The last time Detroit had at least 20 wins was during the 1996-97 campaign (coach Rademacher's last season as a player) when the Titans went 23-7, winning the MCC Championship and advancing to their only NCAA Tournament.

WINNING COMBINATION
The Titan current starting line-up of seniors Lauren Allen and Jalesa Jones, sophomores Senee Shearer and Megan Hatter and freshman Shareta Brown is 18-2 on the year.

The lone setbacks have been at Green Bay and at UIC.

In fact, the Titans last two losses have come when there has been a change in the starting line-up.

At Wright State, Allen was sick and junior Chanahl Putnam got the start, while at Youngstown State, Putnam received the starting assignment over Allen.

SIX IN A ROW
Detroit is currently on a six-game winning streak - its third streak of five or more on the year.

UDM's last six-game winning streak came during the 2009-10 season, while the last time the Titans won seven in a row was in the 1999-2000 campaign.

SHEARER IN THE TOP 5
The long range shooting of sophomore Senee Shearer not only has her among the league leaders, but also among the best in Titan history.

On the year, Shearer is third in the HL with 71 3-pointers and with 2.2 per game - which also has her 73rd in the nation.

She hit a career-best six 3-pointers against Youngstown St on Feb. 25 and stands third on the Titan single season list with 71 treys, just two in back of Daphne Smith's 73 in 1987.

Brigid Mulroy tops the list with 92 in 2010.

FAMILIAR FOE
UDM head coach Autumn Rademacher is no stranger to Green Bay as she was an assistant coach for the Phoenix from 2004-08, with the last season working with current Phoenix coach Matt Bollant.

During her tenure, Green Bay won four conference regular-season championships, as well as two post-season titles (2005 and '07).

BROWN TO BREAK ANOTHER ONE?
With her 561 points on the year, freshman Shareta Brown is just 16 points away from breaking the school record for most points in a season.

Cassandra Pack currently tops the list with 576 during the 1986-87 season. It should be noted that the Titan Hall-Of-Famer accomplished the task in 26 games averaging 22.2 ppg.
