EDISION, N.J. -- Creating havoc has been synonymous with junior Jordan Houtby (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross) as he was named the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, announced the conference office.

Houtby helped Detroit run out to a big lead in the Titans' 13-10 road win over Quinnipiac last Saturday.  He led a strong defensive effort – one that saw the Bobcats turn the ball over 27 times - with a game-high four caused turnovers as well as picking up six ground balls. He also came up with an assist on offense.

It was the fourth time this season that the reigning MAAC LSM of the Year tallied four turnovers in a game, and he currently leads the MAAC and is second in the nation with 2.71 caused turnovers per game. He is also second in the league and 24th in the country corralling 5.14 ground balls per game.

It is the third weekly award won by Detroit on the season as sophomore Scott Drummond has twice been tabbed the Rookie of the Week. It is also the second time in Houtby's career that he has earned the MAAC Defensive POW (Mar 1, 2011).

The Titans are back in action this weekend as the red, white and blue open up conference play at Canisius. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
