MAAC Release
EDISON, N.J. -- After picking up an overtime win to keep Detroit undefeated in conference play, junior
A.J. Levell (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) was named the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Levell starred in between the pipes for Detroit coming up with nine saves as the Titans moved to 2-0 in league play with an 8-7 victory over Marist. He allowed just seven goals on the day and only three in the second half, while tallying three saves in the fourth quarter.
It is the third time in his career that Levell has won the conference's weekly honor as the 2011 second team All-MAAC player was tabbed twice last season.
He also becomes the fourth Titan to win a weekly MAAC award following
Joel Matthews' Offensive Player of the Week last week,
Jordan Houtby as the Defensive Player of the Week on March 12 and
Scott Drummond being selected the Rookie of the Week on Feb. 21 and 28.
The Titans will bring their 5-4 mark and 2-0 MAAC record on the road this week as UDM makes the trip to New York to face Manhattan on Saturday.
