DETROIT -- After displaying one of the best defensive team efforts in recent school history, the second-seeded Detroit women's basketball team will play third-seeded Wright State in the Horizon League Semifinals, set for Friday at 6:00 p.m. (EST) in Green Bay.

Both the semifinals and finals will be held at the Kress Events Center with the Phoenix as the #1 seed. Green Bay will play #4 UIC in the other Friday semifinal with the two victors to meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (EST) for the Horizon League Championship.

The Titans and Raiders split the regular season series with each team posting a win on its home court. UDM downed WSU, 75-64, in Calihan Hall in mid-January, while Wright State earned a 91-82 victory at the Nutter Center nearly a month later.

Both teams have a presence inside and outside as well as feature a top freshman. Wright State freshman Kim Demmings was Co-Newcomer of the Year with Detroit's Shareta Brown as the rookie guard is second in the league averaging 18.3 points per game to go with 4.2 assists per game. Senior Molly Fox is tallying 16.0 ppg., and 10.0 rpg.

Detroit is coming off a 79-43 victory over Cleveland State in a game that the Titans dominated defensively. They took a 34-11 lead at the half, ending the first period on a 23-2 run in the final 15 minutes. The Vikings were just 3-of-26 (11.5%) from the field in the first stanza and finished the game shooting just 23.6% (13-of-55).

Five players scored in double figures for just the fourth time in team history in the Horizon League Tournament. Brown led the way with 19 points, but senior Jalesa Jones (15) and Lauren Allen (13) combined for 28 points, nine rebounds, six assists and six steals. Sophomore Megan Hatter had 12 points, five rebounds and a career-high five assists, while junior Chanahl Putnam added 10 off the bench.

Detroit shot a sizzling 54.5% from the field, connecting on over 50.0% of its shots in both halves. They did there damage inside with a 40-14 tally in points in the paint. The Titans also had a season high 14 steals and outrebounded the Vikings, 38-29.

The game will be broadcast for free on the Horizon League Network with Jim Barbar (PxP) and Brian Nicol (Color) on the call. Live stats will also be available as well as updates with all of those who follow the Titans on twitter.

DETROIT VS. WRIGHT STATE
The Titans and Raiders split the regular season series with each team winning on its home court. WSU has won nine of the last 12, but UDM does lead the overall series, 21-18.

Detroit and Wright State have met once in the Horizon League Championship with UDM coming away with an 86-47 victory in the quarterfinals in 1997 in Green Bay.

ABOUT THE RADIERS
The #3 seed in the playoffs, Wright State rolled past #6 Loyola, 91-67, in its quarterfinals contest and comes into the game at 20-11. WSU was 12-6 in the Horizon League during the regular season.

Freshman Kim Demmings - who shared HL Newcomer of the Year with UDM's Shareta Brown - is second in the league in scoring at 18.3 ppg., and is also handing out 4.2 apg.

Senior Molly Fox is second on the team in scoring (16.0) and second in the HL in rebounding (10.0)

HL POSTSEASON HISTORY
Detroit has two Horizon League championships to its credit. The Titans captured the 1987 title with a 21-6 record and a 10-2 mark in MCC play, as there was no tournament held.

UDM's other championship came with current head coach Autumn Rademacher leading the way in 1997 as Detroit defeated Wright State, Milwaukee and Green Bay - in Green Bay - to raise the banner and advance to its only NCAA Tournament.

For her efforts, Rademacher was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Titans have also finished runner-up four times (1999, 2002, 2003, 2004) with each loss in the championship game to the Phoenix.

ALL-TIME TOURNAMENT RECORD
The Titans are 22-20 all-time in the HL's postseason tournament, including a 2-1 record as the second-seeded team.

The only other time Detroit was a No. 2 seed was in 1999 as the Titans reached the title game beating #7 UIC and #3 Butler before falling to Green Bay.

A TRIP TO THE SEMI'S
The Titans are making their 12th trip to the semifinals and the second in three years under head coach Autumn Rademacher.

In 2009-10, #3 Detroit was upended by #2 Butler, 69-55, in Green Bay.

A LOOK BACK AT 1997'S GAME
Detroit and Wright State have met just once in the Horizon League Tournament with UDM posting an 86-47 victory at Green Bay in the 1997 quarterfinals.

A senior Titan by the name of Autumn Rademacher led the way for Detroit by scoring a team-high 20 points.

That win was the start of a run to the championship and the NCAA Tournament as UDM downed Milwaukee (98-63) in the semifinals and Green Bay (63-55) in the title game.

FOURTH-STRAIGHT YEAR WITH A POSTSEASON HOME WIN
For the fourth year in a row, Detroit won a home playoff game after cruising past Cleveland State, 79-43.

Last season, #7 Detroit downed #10 Valparaiso, 57-50, in the first round.

UDM was an eighth seed in 2009 when the Titans beat No. 9 Loyola, 72-67, while in 2008 #3 Detroit beat the Ramblers, 75-62.

POSTSEASON PLAY ON THE HORIZON?
With the Titans clinching the second seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship, they have put themselves in great position for their first postseason tournament since 1997.

Obviously, if the Titans win the HL Championship, they will be heading to the NCAA Tournament, but if they lose, they could very well end up in the WNIT for the first time in their history.

The 64-team postseason WNIT is composed of 33 automatic bids from each established conference. That automatic bid is given to the highest-finishing team in its conference's regular-season standings that is not selected to the NCAA's.

With Green Bay ranked 11th in the country, it is almost assured an automatic bid to the big dance even if it does not win the Horizon League Championship, which would mean that the Titans could earn that bid for postseason play.

WHAT A PERFORMANCE IN THE TOURNAMENT
The 36-point victory over Cleveland State in the quarterfinals was the biggest by the Titans in a Horizon League Tournament game since defeating Wright State by 39 (86-47) in a quarterfinals contest in 1997.

The 43 points allowed were the fewest by a Titan opponent in a HL tournament game since beating UIC, 63-43, in a first-round match-up in 2003.

Detroit led 34-11 at the half against Cleveland State holding the Vikings to just 3-of-26 (11.5%) from the field in the first half and 23.5% shooting for the game (13-of-55).

UDM outscored CSU, 23-2, in the final 15:42 minutes of the first half and the Vikings hit just one field goal between 15:42 in the first and 19:01 in the second.

TOURNAMENT RECORDS
Detroit has seen players net 20 or more points 12 times in the Horizon League Tournament, with the Titan record set at 31 by Heather Longar against Evansville in 1992.

A Titan has recorded 12 or more rebounds just eight times, with the mark held by India Bruster, who pulled down 19 at Green Bay in 2007.

UDM has also seen seven players collect a double-double with current Titan Yar Shayok the last to do it with 19 points and 11 boards against Butler in 2010.

WHAT'S NOT MINE, I TAKE
Detroit posted a season-high 14 steals against Cleveland State in the quarterfinals.

It was the fourth time this year UDM has had double-digit steals in a game and the last since tallying 10 at Milwaukee on Feb. 11.

It was also the most since UDM had 15 against Marygrove in a 68-27 win last season.

HIGH 5
Detroit had five players in double figures for the fourth time this season in its win over Cleveland State in the HL quarterfinals.

The other three occasions occurred in wins over Wright State (75-64), Loyola and Ball State (87-68).

TITANS VICTORY TOTAL RISING
With its Horizon League quarterfinals victory over Cleveland State its last time out, the Titans have now posted 19 wins on the season, the most in head coach Autumn Rademacher's four years at Detroit.

The last time Detroit had at least 19 wins was during the 1996-97 campaign (coach Rademacher's last season as a player) when the Titans went 23-7, winning the MCC Championship and advancing to their only NCAA Tournament.

It is also just the sixth time in the last 15 years that UDM will end the year with a winning record and the second time under coach Rademacher as the red, white and blue went 17-14 in her second season (2009-10).

WINNING COMBINATION
The Titan current starting line-up of seniors Lauren Allen and Jalesa Jones, sophomores Senee Shearer and Megan Hatter and freshman Shareta Brown is 17-2 on the year.

The lone setbacks have been at Green Bay and at UIC.

In fact, the Titans last two losses have come when there has been a change in the starting line-up.

At Wright State, Allen was sick and junior Chanahl Putnam got the start, while at Youngstown State, Putnam received the starting assignment over Allen.

TITANS TIE SCHOOL HL RECORD
Detroit went 14-4 in the Horizon League this year, tying the school record for the most conference wins.

The Titans were 14-4 in 2009-10, coach Rademacher's second season at the helm, and was 14-2 in 1996-97, coach Rademacher's last season as a player.

LUCKY NUMBERS
Detroit is:
- 7-0 on the year when sophomore Senee Shearer nets at least 20 points in a game
- 7-0 on the season and 24-8 when senior Lauren Allen scores in double figures
- 22-6 all time when Allen dishes out five or more assists.
- 12-4 on the year and 34-20 when senior Jalesa Jones has five or more assists.
- 9-0 on the season and 23-8 in her career when junior Yar Shayok is in double digits
- 8-0 when sophomore Megan Hatter pulls down five or more rebounds.

WE OWN THE PAINT
The Titans' presence down low has led to some easy buckets in the paint as well as a plethora of second-chance points.

UDM is coming off a game where it dominated the paint, 40-14.

On the season, Detroit owns a 928-562 advantage in points in the paint.

Detroit had a big game inside against IPFW to the tune of a 62-26 advantage.

A few other games where the Titans have shown their size was against Bowling Green (28-10 margin), at Ball State (46-26), at Youngstown State (36-20), at #9 Green Bay (30-8) and at Wright State (38-14).

DETROIT BASKETBALL!!!
The Detroit men's basketball just won the Horizon League Championship and now the women are looking to do the same.

If the Titan women do win, it would be the first time in school history that both teams won a championship in the same season.

Both teams have had a bit of a roller coaster season, but have turned it on since slow starts as the men were 3-6 through their first nine and the women were 1-8.

In fact since Dec. 18, the two teams have combined for a 35-9 record with the women at 18-4 and the men at 17-5

MORE ABOUT THE D
After seeing Youngstown State nail 15 3-pointers in just 25 attempts (60.0%) on Jan. 26, the Titans have seen their last 11 opponents shoot 65-of-234 (27.7%) from beyond the arc.

Detroit is currently third in the HL in three-point field goal defense (30.1%).

ONE MORE D-TIDBIT
The Titans' 79-43 quarterfinals victory over Cleveland State was the 13th time this season the Titans have held an opponent to under 60 points and the ninth time in the last 11 games.

It was also the fifth time they have held an opponent under 50 points.

In its last three games, UDM is giving up just 45.6 points per game.

HOLDING THE LEAD
Detroit is 17-1 on the season when it is leading with 10 minutes left in the game and a perfect 18-0 when ahead with five minutes remaining.

The lone loss that UDM has endured when up with 10 minutes left was a 66-59 setback at UIC.
