Women's Basketball Signs Tayelor McCalister To A National Letter Of Intent

DETROIT -- Continuing to add to a team that won 20 games and made its first postseason appearance since 1997, head coach Autumn Rademacher announced that Tayelor McCalister (Akron, OH/Firestone) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Titans.

"Tayelor blew me away when I first saw her play at an AAU tournament over the evaluation weekend in April," said coach Rademacher. "I was shocked that she was still unsigned and fell in love with her game instantly. She is extremely fast in the open floor, an excellent playmaker and can get to the basket. She also creates for others, is very athletic for her size and is a great defender. "

A four-year letterwinner in high school, McCalister was tabbed First Team All-District as a senior as she was top 50 in the state in assists and steals. She also ranked No. 2 in assists in Northeast Ohio and No. 22 in steals, while leading her team to a city championship. In that title game, she totaled 20 points, seven steals and four assists.

"With her court awareness and very competitive spirit, I envision Tayelor making an immediate impact on our program at the point guard position," added Rademacher.

As a junior she was First Team All-City and was also the team's Freshman of the Year in 2009. She was also named to the Northeast Ohio All-Star Team and is a three-year member of the school's Honor Roll.

McCalister joins four Titan signees who inked with Detroit back in the fall in DaVonna Bradford (Cleveland, OH/ Lake Ridge), Eman Hubbard (Farmington Hills, MI/Harrison), Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, MI/Divine Child) and Destiny LaVita-Stephens (Grand Blanc, MI/Goodrich). All five student-athletes will enroll at Detroit as freshmen in the fall of 2012.
