Rothstein Files: Ten Mid-Major Guards To Watch Next Season

NEW YORK -- The college basketball season might be more than five months away, but that hasn't stopped Ray McCallum from picking up some early accolades for his junior season.

College Basketball Insider and expert Jon Rothstein released his top 10 Mid-Major Guards to watch next season and the superb University of Detroit Mercy playmaker came in at No. 3 on the list. To read that release, click here.

McCallum – who has already crossed the 1,000-point plateau with 1,001 – has averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals so far in his career. He has started all 69 games he has played in leading UDM to 39 victories in his two years, including 22 this past season tying for the sixth-most in Titan history.

In two years, he has been tabbed a Preseason John Wooden Award Top 50 honoree, a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District First Team selection as a sophomore and a two-time All-Horizon League honoree as a second teamer as a freshman and first team this past year. He earned HL Newcomer of the Year as a rookie and was the Horizon League Tournament MVP in guiding the Titans to four wins in the conference championship for the title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament in 2012.
