LAST TIME OUT
The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team dropped its first Horizon League game of the year on Saturday (Jan. 12) with a 74-62 loss to Cleveland State at the Wolstein Center. The loss also snapped the Titans' five-game winning streak.

Junior guard Ray McCallum led the Titans with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, while senior Nick Minnerath collected his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Evan Bruinsma also pitched in with seven points and six rebounds.

Cleveland State (10-8, 2-2 HL) won the battle on the boards, 39-34, and forced 15 Titan turnovers, which resulted in 16 points, while Detroit also forced 15 turnovers, but only managed one point out of them. Cleveland State shot 51.9 percent (28-54) overall, including 57.1 percent (8-14) from downtown, while holding Detroit to 42.6 percent (23-54) overall and just 16.7 percent (3-18) from downtown. The Vikings finished 10-of-16 from the charity stripe, while Detroit shot a season low 40.6 percent (13-32) from the foul line.

SERIES WITH VALPARAISO
This will be the 20th meeting between Detroit and Valparaiso, with the Crusaders owning an 11-8 lead. Valpo swept the regular season series last year, before Detroit topped the Crusaders, 70-50, in the Horizon League Championship game at Valparaiso.

ABOUT THE CRUSADERS
Senior Ryan Broekhoff made a career-high seven three pointers and tallied his third straight double-double as the Valparaiso men's basketball team defeated Milwaukee, 76-52, at the Klotsche Center Saturday evening. The Crusaders have now won six of their last seven games, including three straight on the road.

Broekhoff's 26-point, 10-rebound effort paced the Crusaders, who never trailed en route to a double-digit victory, while three other Crusaders reached double figures on the afternoon. Matt Kenney scored 11 points and grabbed five boards, while Kevin Van Wijk scored 12 points and LaVonte Dority added 10 off the bench.

Broekhoff was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading Valpo to a pair of road victories last week, tallying double-doubles in both contests.

TITANS LOVE CALIHAN #MyHomeCourt
Detroit is 9-0 this year at home and has won 17 straight games at Calihan Hall dating back to last season. The 17-game home winning streak is currently the eighth longest in the nation. The Titans have averaged 77.8 points per game over that stretch, while only allowing opponents to score 65.2 points on Dick Vitale Court. Detroit's last loss at home came on Jan. 6, 2012, against Valparaiso, 73-71.

THE TITAN FIVE
Detroit boasts one of the most balanced attacks in the nation with all five starters averaging double figures. Junior guard Ray McCallum, leads the team in scoring with 19.1 ppg, which ranks 29th in the nation, while classmate Jason Calliste is averaging 13.9 ppg. Seniors Nick Minnerath (11.9 ppg) and Doug Anderson (11.1 ppg), along with sophomore Juwan Howard, Jr. (10.2 ppg) fill out the starting five. Detroit's starters are responsible for 85.1 percent of the Titans scoring, while all five rank among the top-20 in the Horizon League.

CLOSING IN ON 1,000
