DETROIT (1/17/13) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team will open the dual match season with a trip to Cincinnati to face Xavier on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.

As a team in the fall, the Titans went 41-29 overall in singles play and 18-9 in doubles action. Nino Sujashvili was the singles leader in wins for UDM with a perfect 11-0 record in the fall season while Valery Kulikovskaya racked up 10 wins and Elena Strakhova went 8-3.
 
In doubles play, the pair of Julia Fernandes and Sujashvili earned seven wins and Kulikovskaya teamed up with Strakhova who went 6-3 before the winter break.
 
Sujashvili won singles titles at both the Wright State Invitational (9/28-30) and at the Rocket Invite (10/12-13). Kulikovskaya grabbed a singles title in the second flight at the Rocket Invite.
 
Xavier is led by Alex Brinker and Danielle Patton who each had six singles wins each in the fall. Brinker teamed up with Kally Alkired for a 6-4 record in doubles play.
 
UDM finished the dual match season last year with a 7-13 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play.
