Brown Earns Horizon League Player of the Week

HL Release

INDIANAPOLIS (1/21/2013) --
Another big game that ended in a road win at Wright State was too much to ignore as sophomore Shareta Brown was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Monday.

It is the eighth time in her career that she has won the weekly conference accolade and the fourth time this season.

Brown picked up her sixth double-double of the year and 18th of her career with 25 points and 16 rebounds in leading the Titans to an 86-76 victory. The 25 points – which included 17 in the second half – was her 22nd career 20-point game as she was 9-of-16 from the field. She also connected on a pair of 3-pointers and tied for the game high with five assists in just 24 minutes of action.

The 2012 First Team All-Horizon League selection heads into this week's games just 29 points shy of 1,000. Brown also leads the Horizon League in scoring (24.0 ppg.) and field-goal percentage (61.3%) and is fifth in rebounding (9.0). In national statistics, she leads the country in field-goal percentage and is second in scoring behind Georgetown's Sugar Rodgers (24.6).

The Titans open a three-game homestand on Thursday as UDM hosts Jesuit-rival Loyola at 7:00 p.m.
