DETROIT (1/16/2013) -- The fourth annual "Cardio for a Cause" presented by the Eitel Dahm Motor Group will take place February 11-12 in the new Titan Strength and Conditioning facility in lower Calihan Hall. Stationary bike riders in the form of student-athletes, students, faculty and staff, and others connected to the University of Detroit Mercy will ride 10 minute blocks for 24 continuous hours.
The event will kick off on 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11 as riders have an opportunity to sign up for 10 minute riding periods. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Friendship Circle and also to support the Detroit Titan Strength and Conditioning department.
The majority of riding will take place in the new Titan Strength and Conditioning facility in lower Calihan Hall with the final three hours of riding to take place on Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall to help generate more awareness of the program and will enable fans at the game to make a donation towards the cause.

In the past, celebrities including former basketball star and current Titan broadcaster Earl Cureton, Tom Leyden from WXYZ, Matt Dery - former Voice of the Titans, and 97.1 personality and Austin Daye from the Detroit Pistons. The final rider in last year's event was President Garibaldi.
Last year's event also featured some riders taking the entertainment to the next level and started to
serenade the weights as the early hours led to some lighter fun.
Riders are encouraged to ask friends and family to sponsor them and help donate money to benefit the Friendship Circle and Titan Athletics.
Friendship Circle is a non-profit organization that provides programs and support to the families of individuals with special needs. In addition to assisting individuals with special needs, the Friendship Circle enriches its vast network of volunteers by enabling them to reap the rewards of selfless giving.
