Titans Ranked 25th in CIT Mid-Major Poll

-- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team finished with a perfect 2-0 record last week to begin Horizon League play and has won eight of its last nine games to be ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Men's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll released this week.

The Titans are ranked 25th overall with 66 points in this weeks edition of the poll, which is the second most in Horizon League. Valparaiso leads the league ranked 14th (330), while UIC (35), Loyola (30) and Wright State (28) each received votes.

The Titans also extended their home game-winning streak to 17-straight games, which is tied with Indiana and Notre Dame for the seventh longest in the nation. Detroit's next home game will be a rematch of the 2012 Horizon League Championship game when the Titans welcome Valparaiso to Calihan Hall on Jan. 17.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

Detroit (10-5, 2-0 HL) will continue league play on Thursday, Jan. 10 when the Titans visit Youngstown State. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Beeghly Center and will be streamed live on the Horizon League Network.
