Women’s Basketball Continuing To Work Hard

DETROIT (10/17/2013) -- Just a little more than three weeks from now, the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will start the 2013-14 season and with a few weeks of practice already under their belt, the Titans are progressing nicely for the upcoming year.

Prior to practice today, DetroitTitans.com caught up with head coach Autumn Rademacher and a few of the players to talk about the preseason training.

Head Coach Autumn Rademacher

On The Team's Scrimmage:
"I saw a lot of really good things. I thought we played well as a team overall. I think our overall effort was there and we showed a glimpse of some really good things. It is obviously super early in the season and we are still working on some kinks and execution, but overall I think everything is in place and we need to continue to work hard and get better and better as we move on. I believe we will be a threat every time we step out on the court."

On Seeing The Team On The Floor:
"It was nice to sub a lot of different people and get a lot of different players in the game. Everyone has been working really hard and they needed to be awarded for their efforts over the summer and in the preseason so everyone had a chance to play and contribute. We are still trying to figure out our rotation, our line-ups, and our subs and see what the best route for us is to play to our strength."

On What The Team Is Working On The Most:
"We are spending enough time on each side of the ball. One of our strengths is shooting the ball and I am really excited about that and we want to make sure we don't give up any easy baskets on the defensive end. We have a lot of work to do, but I am very pleased with our attitude and effort in practice as well as in the scrimmage."

Senior Forward Megan Hatter

On The Team's Closed Door Scrimmage:
"Our chemisty on the court is going to be key and it was great to get on the court against a different team and develop that in a game."

On The Team's Leadership:
"We have a lot of newcomers on the team so the experience between me and players like Senee [Shearer] and Rosie [Rosanna Reynolds] is important to keep everyone on the same page."

On Where She Feels The Team Is At The Moment:
"We need to work on both offense and defense. I think our defense is solid, but just need to correct some things and on offense, we just need to continue to get reps and keep working hard and improve like everyone else at this point of the year."

Freshman Forward Megan Galloway

On Playing As A Team In A Scrimmage:
"It was exciting to see how different the competition is from high school and AAU. It was also good to see where our team is at this point as we get ready for the season."

On Her Goal In Practice & In The Scrimmage:
"My main focus is to push the ball and get up and down and play some good defense."
