Game Notes vs. Michigan State
DETROIT (11/19/2013) -- In what will be the fourth-straight game against an in-state opponent, the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will head to East Lansing as the Titans face the nationally-ranked Michigan State Spartans on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., at the Breslin Center.

The Titans are coming off a loss to Michigan last Saturday at home, a game which three players scored in double figures led by senior
Senee Shearer's 18 points. Sophomore
Tayelor McCalister had a career day with 14 points and six rebounds, while junior
Ellisha Crosby netted 11.
Detroit will look to end a 13-game slide to No. 21/19 Michigan State as the Spartans are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a home overtime victory against No. 21 Dayton, 96-89.
Following Wednesday's game, UDM will return home to face Ball State on Saturday, Nov. 23, in what will be a tripleheader at historic Calihan Hall. The women's game will start at 11:00 a.m., and then the men will host day two of the 2K Sports Classic - Wounded Warrior Project with Stony Brook facing Florida Atlantic at 3:00 p.m., and Detroit battling Toledo at 5:30.

THE DETROIT-MICHIGAN STATE SERIES
The Titans are looking to end a long losing streak to Michigan State as the Spartans have won 13 in a row and 15 of the last 16 games to take an 18-7 lead in the series.
The 13-game slide is the third longest to any opponent in school history trailing Notre Dame's current 16-game win streak over UDM and a pair of Green Bay 15-game runs.
The last time UDM beat its' in-state rival was on Dec. 20, 1994, in San Juan, with Detroit coming up with a 75-70 victory.
Detroit is also 1-13 – and on a 13-game losing streak – on the road in the series with the one triumph coming in the Titans' inaugural season (Feb. 6, 1979) when the red, white and blue earned a 61-60 win.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
Michigan State comes into the games ranked No. 21 by the AP and 19 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches' Poll with a 2-1 record. The Spartans started the season with a loss on the road to No. 6 Notre Dame before topping Canisius, 102-54, and besting No. 21 Dayton in overtime, 96-89.
Tori Jankoska leads the team in scoring at 18.3 ppg., despite coming off the bench in the first three games. Aerial Powers is second in scoring tallying 15.7 points, while Annalise Pickrel tops the squad with 8.7 rebounds per game to go with 15.0 ppg.
MSU is averaging 87.7 points per game on 52.2% shooting, including 40.0% from the outside.
The Spartans were picked to finish third in the Big Ten in the preseason media poll, while senior Klarissa Bell was a preseason All-Big Ten pick by the coaches.
COACH REMEMBERS THE LAST WIN OVER MICHIGAN STATE
Since head coach Autumn Rademacher came back to her alma mater, Detroit is 1-9 against the Big Ten conference falling to Michigan State four times.
But coach certainly remembers the last triumph UDM had over MSU on Dec. 20, 1994. Rademacher, a sophomore at the time, and teammate Jeanie Hill each netted 20 points and Faith Cyr grabbed 11 rebounds as Detroit won 75-70, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
TRAVERSE CITY LEGENDS ON THE SIDELINES
The contest will feature two great players turned coaches that hail from Traverse City.
Both Titan head coach Autumn Rademacher and Michigan State's Suzy Merchant were prep stars and All-State performers at Traverse City High School.
AGAINST THE GREAT LAKES STATE
UDM is 105-66 all-time against teams from the Michigan, and 11-6 since the start of the 2010-11 season.
TITANS VS. THE BIG TEN
The Titans are 32-42 all-time against the Big Ten, with their last victory coming against Michigan on the road in 2010, 67-48.
Detroit has actually dropped 23 of its last 24 games against current members of the Big Ten dating back to the 1997-98 season.
ALL-TIME AGAINST RANKED TEAMS
Detroit has played 14 ranked teams since Autumn Rademacher returned to her alma mater as head coach in 2008 and has recorded three wins, including two over Green Bay.
In fact, Coach Rademacher's first win at Detroit was a 70-66 upset of No. 23 Georgia at home on Nov. 22, 2008.

UDM is 5-48 all-time against ranked teams with four of the wins coming in the Motor City. The one road win over a ranked team was at No. 9/9 Green Bay, 70-58, on Feb. 9, 2012.
Besides the aforementioned victories over Green Bay and Georgia, the Titans defeated No. 3 Kansas on Feb. 14, 1981, and No. 9 North Carolina State, 60-59, on Dec. 5, 1981.
SHE'S A SHOOTER
Senior
Senee Shearer poured in a game and career-high 29 points against Western Michigan on Nov. 14, going 9-of-17 from the field, 4-of-9 from three and 7-of-12 from the charity stripe.
The 29 points eclipsed the 24 she had at WMU as a sophomore and it was also her ninth career 20-point game.
Shearer then led the Titans with 18 points against Michigan and has now topped Detroit in scoring in three-straight games.
IT'S TAY TIME
Tayelor McCalister had a fine start to her sophomore year posting career highs in nearly every statistical category.
In Detroit's last game against Michigan, McCalister was in double figures for the fourth-straight game with a career-high 14 points to go with a career-best six rebounds and tying her career and season high with four assists for the third time.
On Saturday versus the Wolverines, she was 7-of-9 from the field and that was after a 6-of-13 effort at Western Michigan, where she tied her career mark with four steals.
In the season opener at Canisius, she finished with 11 points four assists and had 10 points, four assists and four rebounds against Lawrence Tech.
On the year, she is averaging 11.8 points - third on the team - a team-high 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals as well as 3.3 rebounds per game.
ELLISHALICIOUS
Junior
Ellisha Crosby continued her strong start to her Division I career with her second double-double of the season tallying 24 points and a career-best 12 rebounds at Western Michigan on Nov. 14.
She was 10-of-23 from the field.
Her collegiate high is 25 as a freshman when she was at Cornerstone in a game against Northwestern Ohio in 2011.
SHEARER NOW TOP 7 IN 3'S
With three 3-pointers against Michigan, senior
Senee Shearer now has sole possession of seventh place on the Titan all-time list with 145 career trifectas.
Shearer is just 15 away from sixth place and Brigid Mulroy's ('10) 160.
She will have a chance at the top spot trailing Titan head coach
Autumn Rademacher '97 by 56 (201) for second and school record-holder Michelle James '02 by 72 (217).
DOUBLE DEBUT
Junior
Ellisha Crosby waited two years to get back on the court and she had a strong game in her Division I debut posting a double-double and leading the team with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three steals at Canisius.
She then added another double-double with 24 points and a team-high 12 rebounds at Western Michigan.
Crosby - who scored over 2,600 points in high school - tops UDM in rebounding (9.0), is second in scoring (15.8), tied for third in assists (1.8) and tied for second in steals.
MY BALL
Detroit has forced 75 turnovers through the first four games, with 26 against Lawrence Tech and 21 in the season opener at Canisius.
The 26 turnovers were the most by an opponent since Jan. 31, 2009 when Wright State committed 32.
UDM also has 39 steals in that span with 14 against Lawrence Tech. The 14 thefts were the most since taking 14 against Cleveland State in the quarterfinals of the HL Championship in 2012, a 79-43 win.
THANK YOU FANS
Detroit's attendance of 2,156 against Michigan on Nov. 16 was the largest since 3,218 fans came to see UDM upend Green Bay, 56-50, in overtime on Jan. 24, 2004.
ON THE DL
Sophomore
Rosanna Reynolds will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury early in the game at Western Michigan.
Reynolds was selected to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team last year after starting all 34 games and averaging a team-high 35.3 minutes per game, tallying 7.8 points – fifth on the team – along with 3.3 rebounds, and a team-high 4.0 assists per game (135).
She also finished fifth in the Horizon League in assists (120th in the nation), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.7), and minutes played.
HOLDING THEIR OWN
While the Titans feature a guard-oriented roster and offense, they have held their own in the paint outscoring teams, 136-128, so far on the season.
RISTOVSKI CRASHING THE BOARDS
Titan freshmen
Haleigh Ristovski did her job on the glass against Michigan, leading the team with eight rebounds in the game against the Wolverines and her sister - UM sophomore Madison Ristovski.
She also handed out three assists in just 24 minutes of action.
The rookie is now tied for second on the team with 4.3 rebounds per game and has seven assists on the season against just one turnover.
OK GALLOWAY
Titan freshman
Megan Galloway did not play in the season opener at Canisius and saw limited minutes against Lawrence Tech, but the rookie forward did her job when her number was called at Western Michigan.
Galloway tallied six points and six rebounds in just 13 minutes - all in the second half - and also had the first and only block of the year for the Titans.
She then earned her first career start against Michigan her last time out.
