Nunez to Compete in Central American Games

DETROIT (2/8/2013) -- University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis player Pablo Nunez will represent Costa Rica in the X Central American Games that will take place from March, 3-17, in San Jose, Costa Rica. Nunez received a letter from the President of the Tennis Federation inviting him to be one of four players to represent Costa Rica in the games.
 
“It is great to go home and represent my country,” said Nunez. “I've done it for the Davis Cup and it's a different feeling from other competition. It's a real honor.”
 
The Central American Games are played every four years, usually the year after the Olympics. It is on a rotation with the Caribbean Games, the Mexican Games and the Pan-American Games. The games are governed by ORDECA (Organizacion Deportiva Centroamericana/Central American Sports Organization), an international organization which represents the seven National Olympic Committees of the Central American region.
 
Other countries that will be competing in the games include Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama.
