2012-13 NABC All-District Teams
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (3/26/13) - University of Detroit Mercy junior guard
Ray McCallum was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District First Team, while senior forward
Nick Minnerath earned Second Team honors, selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
McCallum, who was recently named to the Lute Olson All-American Team, was also the Horizon League Player of the Year after finishing his junior campaign averaging 18.7 ppg, which ranked 35th nationally. McCallum also handed out 4.5 assists per game while grabbing 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals. The junior was the first player since fellow Titan Rashad Phillips in 2000-01 to earn both preseason and postseason Player of the Year honors.
McCallum was joined on the NABC All-District Team by Minnerath, who finished fifth in the league in scoring with 14.6 ppg, while leading the Titans on the boards with 5.9 rpg. Minnerath, who returned this year from a season-ending knee injury last year, recorded the most points in a single-game this season in the Horizon League with 36 against Valparaiso on Jan. 17. Minnerath finished his career in Detroit with 913 points and 374 rebounds.
The NABC Division I All-District teams for 2012-13 recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. The 242 student-athletes, from 24 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All America teams.
