VALPARAISO, Ind. (4/7/13) – The Detroit women's tennis team followed its historic victory on Saturday with a 7-0 win over Valparaiso on Sunday to complete a perfect weekend on the road.
UDM took the doubles point with
Elena Strakhova and Valery Kulikovskaya taking first doubles, 8-2, and
Nino Sujashvili and
Irina Slizovskaya own their fourth straigh match, taking second doubles, 8-3. Third doubles was won by Detroit by default.
Chloe Karoub came away with a dominating performance at first singles. She dropped only one set to take the match, 6-1, 6-0, for her sixth win this year.
Julia Fernandes dropped the first set of her match at second singles, 6-3, but battled back to take the second and third sets, 6-0, 10-3.
The Titans' Slizovskaya won her fifth consecutive match as she took third singles, 5-1, 6-3, and Kulikovskaya took fourth singles, 6-1, 6-3, for her fourth-straight victory.
Detroit improves to 8-5 (2-2 HL) and the Crusaders fall to 1-17 (0-4 HL) on the year. UDM will be in action again when it hosts Green Bay on April 19.
