DETROIT (6/24/2013) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team got its camp season underway last week as the Titans had some of the best talent in the state inside Calihan Hall with their Elite Camp and Annual Team Shootout.
"With our Elite Camp, we were extremely pleased with the attitude, effort and enthusiasm of the campers and our Team Shootout featured many talented players and teams," said assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator Emily Geary.
It all started with the Titan Elite Camp last Friday as the high-school talent took the spotlight to showcase their skills on Dick Vitale Court. The camp included skill development, a NCAA Rules Education session and a highly-competitive atmosphere with the UDM coaching staff looking on.
Then on Saturday, 20 teams took the floor for the Team Shootout. Teams got a guaranteed three games on the day with live officials on hand providing for the full tournament experience.
"We were impressed with the cooperation shown by the players, coaches and officials," added Coach Geary. "All in all, it was a great basketball weekend for the Titans!"
The Detroit basketball staff would like to thank all the student-athletes, teams and officials for coming out and taking part in the two events and hopes to see everyone back at Calihan Hall for future camps as well as cheering on the red, white and blue as they make a run at another postseason appearance.
