2013-14 Schedule

DETROIT (8/5/2013) --
A Titan doubleheader to open the 60th Anniversary of Calihan Hall is set for Nov. 11 and Michigan will visit the Motor City on Nov. 16 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball non-conference schedule was officially unveiled today.

"I think we have scheduled a great balance of competitive teams and teams that if we can beat will make an extraordinary difference in our program and increase our chances to receive an invitation to a third-straight postseason tournament," said head coach Autumn Rademacher as she enters her sixth year at the helm of her alma mater.

Fans who came out to take part in last week's Titan Golf Outing were already given a copy of the schedule.

The defending WBI Champions, Detroit will host one exhibition prior to the start of the season against McNichols-rival Marygrove on Oct. 30.

The official start of the campaign will be on Nov. 8 as UDM travels to upstate New York to face Jesuit foe Canisius. Last year, the Titans took a 3-2 lead in the series against the Golden Griffins with a 65-54 victory.

Just three days later (Nov. 11), basketball will be alive on Dick Vitale Court as the women welcome Lawrence Tech in game one of a doubleheader that will also see the men take on the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the home opener for both squads.

A trip to in-state rival Western Michigan follows that on Nov. 14 as the Titans look to make in four-in-a-row over the Broncos. The contest is one of three against the Mid-American Conference as Ball State (Nov. 23) and Eastern Michigan (Dec. 15) will come to Calihan Hall this year.

The Big Ten will be on the docket twice with Michigan heading to UDM on Nov. 16 followed by a short trek to Michigan State on Nov. 20. The game against the Wolverines will feature a sibling rivalry as Detroit freshman Haleigh Ristovski will face her sister in U-M sophomore Madison Ristovski.

Two more home non-conference games are inked for this year surrounding the Holiday season as Detroit looks to go 7-1 all-time against IPFW on Dec. 21, and Madonna in the building on Dec. 30 in another Titan doubleheader.

Detroit will also take part in two tournaments playing in Florida Atlantic's Thanksgiving event from Nov. 29-30 and a tournament at Toledo from Dec. 6-7. Both will feature two games with the opponents not yet announced.

"We have scheduled many in-state opponents that are great for attendance and have turned into very healthy rivalries across the board," said Coach Rademacher. "We also signed up for two tournaments which is a great simulation for how the Horizon League tournament is set up and that will prepare us well for when the time comes to play back-to-back games in March."

The Titans set a school record with 16 home wins last year, tied for the second most home victories in the country, which propelled Detroit to a 21-13 record. It was UDM's second-straight winning season, the first time it has had back-to-back winning seasons since 2001-2002, and also two-straight years of 20 wins, the first time that has happened since they had four-straight years between 1978-82.
