Titans Come Away With Singles and Doubles Win at Michigan State

Match Results 

LANSING, Mich. (1/19/2014) -- Freshman Anna Davydova earned her second straight singles victory and the pairing of Nino Sujashvili and Julia Fernandes earned a win at No. 1 doubles but the University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team fell by a 6-1 score at Michigan State Sunday evening. 

Sujashvili and Fernandes earned a hard-fought 6-3 win for Detroit (0-2) over Marina Bohrer and Erin Faulkner of MSU (2-0) at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 4 singles, it was freshman Davydova in her second-career collegiate singles match coming up with her second-straight victory. Davydova took the first set 6-3 before falling 6-1 setting up a third and final tiebreaker. Davydova pulled out the 10-3 win to give Detroit its lone point of the evening. 

UDM will return to action on Jan. 24 as the Titans will host Chicago State at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Michigan. Match time is set for 9:00 p.m. and will be a doubleheader with the UDM men's tennis team that starts its match against Duquesne at 8:00 p.m.
