Video Interview With Coach Rademacher
DETROIT (10/6/2014) -- The time read 5:30 a.m., but historic Calihan Hall was full of energy as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team held its first official team practice for the 2014-15 season on Monday.
"It was an early morning wake up call, but everyone came in prepared and energized and ready to go," said head coach
Autumn Rademacher '97, who is beginning her seventh season at her alma mater.
The Titans got right to it with some shooting drills before focusing on communication on the defensive side of the ball. Detroit has big goals for defense and communication will be a key to its success this season.
"We have quite a few kids who are on the shy side personality wise so we absolutely have to make sure we bring that out of them on the court," said Coach Rademacher. "Off the court, they can be quiet and a little timid, but on the court, that's not possibly, especially on the defensive end."
Detroit will have its lone exhibition of the season on Saturday, Nov. 8, while the regular season will begin in just 39 days when the red, white and blue visit Michigan on Nov. 14.
