DETROIT (10/7/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Athletic Department will give fans a glimpse of the Titans men's and women's basketball teams prior to the season with a Titan Tip-off event at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, inside historic Calihan Hall. Admission for the event is free.
The doors to Calihan Hall will open at 6 p.m., one hour prior to the start of the event. The women's basketball team will scrimmage first followed by the Titans men's basketball team. Other events will include a dunk contest, post-game autograph session and mascot photo ops with the lovable Tommy Titan.
Each squad will also be introduced to the fans in attendance with introductions prior to the scrimmages.
The Titan Club will also be open for CAL Club/Titan Athletic Club members as soon as the doors open through the end of the men's basketball scrimmage.
Head coach
Ray McCallum's men's basketball team opens its 2014-15 season at home on Nov. 1 against Siena Heights for an exhibition contest at 3 p.m. The Titans women's basketball team under the direction of
Autumn Rademacher '97 also opens with an exhibition against Salem International on Nov. 8 at noon at Calihan Hall.
Both teams open the regular season on Nov. 14 as the men's squad hosts Rochester College at 7 p.m. at Calihan Hall, while the women's team visits Ann Arbor for a matchup with the University of Michigan.
