Titans Announce 2014-15 Basketball TV Package

DETROIT (11/11/14) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics has announced the 2014-15 men's and women's basketball local television schedule. The 15-game package includes games on WADL 38 and Comcast 900.

"We're excited to continue our local partnerships with WADL and Comcast. Through this relationship, the Detroit Titans will become a household name," said Robert C. Vowels, Jr., Director of Athletics at UDM. "Our partners provide us a unique platform for our fans and offers our teams tremendous regional coverage on a regular basis."

Seven of the men's games will be carried live on WADL, before being re-aired on the Titan Classic Sports Network (38.4), which was launched on Sept. 1, 2014.

"We are very pleased to be broadcasting Detroit basketball for a second-straight season," President and General Manager of WADL David Bangura said. "With the launching of the Titan Classic Sports Network on channel 38.4, we now have the ability to cover the Titans in addition to broadcasting their games on our primary channel WADL –TV 38.1 through the course of the season. It will be an exciting year for the Titans and WADL."

The Titans seven games on WADL will be against Bowling Green (Nov. 30), South Florida (Dec. 6), Oral Roberts (Dec. 30), Oakland (Jan. 10), Green Bay (Jan. 17), Wright State (Jan. 26) and Valparaiso (Feb. 25).

In addition to the games with WADL, Comcast 900 will air five men's games, including the season opener at Calihan Hall against Rochester College on Nov. 14. The other four men's contests to air locally on Comcast will be against South Alabama (Nov. 22), Aquinas College (Dec. 1), Youngstown State (Jan. 29) and UIC (Feb. 8).

"We're pleased to televise this package of games and provide greater distribution for University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's basketball. We're always looking for quality match-ups like these to enhance our sports' lineup," said Mary Maliga-Brown, Senior Director of Marketing Operations at Comcast.

Comcast 900 will also carry three of the women's games locally against St. Bonaventure (Nov. 22), Western Michigan (Dec. 20) and Valparaiso (Feb. 5).

As part of the Horizon League television package announced in late September, two other home games have been selected to air on ESPN Networks. The game against Wichita State (Dec. 13) will air on ESPNU, while the Cleveland State game (Feb. 13) will be on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.

In addition to the pair of games on ESPN Networks, the entire home slate of men's and women's basketball games will also be streamed live on ESPN3, including the 15 games that will be televised locally.

"This will mark the first year that our men's basketball team has had every home game televised both locally and nationally," said Jeremiah Hergott the Director of Athletic Communications and External Branding at UDM. "Our goal is to build our brand, while taking our productions to the next level and I must say we are off to a good start."

Both teams open their 2014-15 season this Friday (Nov. 14) as the men host Rochester College at Calihan Hall, while the women visit Ann Arbor to face Michigan at Crisler Center. Both games as slated to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
