INDIANAPOLIS (11/24/14) - University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball freshman guard/forward Paris Bass has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week following strong performances last week against Oregon, Michigan and South Alabama.

Bass won Freshman of the Week honors after averaging 9.3 ppg. and 4.0 rpg., for the Titans. He recorded eight points and two rebounds in Detroit's game at Oregon on Monday night. He followed up that performance with 12 points, six rebounds, a steal and an assist in Detroit's game at 22nd-ranked Michigan. He closed the week with eight points, four rebounds and three blocked shots in Detroit's 66-53 win over South Alabama.
 
Detroit (2-2) will compete in the sub-regional rounds of the Progressive Legends Classic hosted by the University of Toledo. Detroit's first game will be on Monday, Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m. against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). The winner of that game will then face the winner of the Bucknell/Toledo matchup in the championship game on Tuesday, Nov. 25. There will also be a consolation game held on Tuesday prior to the championship game.
