Cheryl Williams-Miller Pre-Game Ceremony
DETROIT (12/21/14) -- It started with a jersey retirement and ended with a gala in the Titan Club as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team celebrated its Annual Alumni Day this past weekend.
Over 30 Titan alums came back for the festivities, which included retiring No. 44 in honor of former standout, All-American and Titan Hall-Of-Famer
Cheryl Williams-Miller prior to the game against Western Michigan. All of the alumni were then honored at halftime of the game and were treated to a post-game celebration.
"I would like to thank all the alumni who came back this weekend and a special congratulations to Cheryl on a tremendous honor and her outstanding career," said
Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "The women's basketball team has a lot of tradition and history and it was the foundation for women's athletics at the university. It was great to see all the alums come back and embrace one another and share some great memories of their Titan days in Calihan Hall."
The Titan women's basketball varsity program was started in 1977 and the 2014-15 season marks the 38th year of women's basketball at the University of Detroit Mercy.
