INDIANAPOLIS (12/29/2014) -- For the second-straight Monday, freshman
Darianne Seward was honored by the Horizon League as the rookie was named the HL's Freshman of the Week.
Seward led the Titans with 11 points and five rebounds in Detroit's only action last week as the red, white and blue played at Cincinnati of the American Athletic Conference.
It was the ninth time this season that Seward has recorded double figures in scoring as she is second on the team and tied for 11th in the Horizon League with 12.5 points per game. She is also eighth in steals (1.8), 10th in free throw percentage (.726) and 15th in field goal percentage (.411) among her conference peers.
Seward has twice notched a season-high 19 points reaching the mark at Michigan and against Western Michigan. She has grabbed at least five rebounds five times this year as well as in four of the last five games.
Detroit will get back on the hardwood tomorrow as the Titans visit Eastern Michigan in a 7:00 p.m., tip at the Convocation Center.
