KANSAS CITY, Mo. (3/12/14) - University of Detroit Mercy junior forward
Juwan Howard Jr. was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Second Team, selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
Howard, who was recently named to the All-Horizon League Second Team and the All-HL First Team by College Sports Madness, finished his junior campaign averaging 18.3 ppg, which ranked fourth in the Horizon League. He also finished 11th in rebounding (5.3), fourth in free throw percentage (83.9%) and tied for 10th with 1.7 three-point field goals made per game, all while leading the Titans with 2.2 assists per game.
He started all 32 games this season averaging 34.5 minutes per game – sixth in the HL – and was in double figures in scoring 28 times, with 14 20-point scoring efforts and a pair of 30-point scoring performances. He tallied a career-high 35 against Valparaiso at home and netted 33 at Oakland during Rivalry Week. His 14 20-point games were the fourth most in the league and he also added two double-doubles on the season
The NABC Division I All-District teams for 2013-14 recognize the nation's best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes. The 252 student-athletes, from 25 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All America teams.
