Come One, Come All
The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's track and field teams will host the 9th annual Dual vs. Oakland on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Titan Field. The throwing events are scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. ET on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy. It is the only home event on the schedule for both the UDM men's and women's teams. 

All are Welcome
Alumni, students, and fans of all ages are all encouraged to attend the 9th Annual UDM-Oakland Dual and it is all FREE.

Tommy Titan Kids Race and Open Mile - Both are Open to the Public
The competition is not limited to current student-athletes. Special activities include a Tommy Titan vs. Oakland Grizzly Kid's Race (100m - 9 & Under) and an alumni/open/student mile run. There is no charge to register for either race. Those interested in participating should contact Brad Fairchild at 313-993-1736 or email him at brad.fairchild@udmercy.edu. 

Section 313
Section 313 will be handing out tumblers to members of Section 313 during the men's lacrosse game that starts at 11am vs. Marist and will also have the tumblers for track and field. If you want to know more about Section 313, CLICK HERE for more information. 

Horizon League Honors
Senior Shannon Marchant was named the Horizon League Women's Outdoor Runner of the Week on Tuesday for her efforts last weekend. Marchant and UDM were in Cincinnati, Ohio competing in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday and Saturday. It was the first career Horizon League weekly honor for Marchant who finished second in the 400 meter dash in Cincinnati as she second in a field of 21 with a time of 58.63. Freshman Ryan Leahy was another top Titan athlete from last week mentioned by the Horizon League after he set a UDM rookie record in the 10,000m with a mark of 31:32.91 and a new personal record as he finished fifth in a field of 35. Leahy broke the mark of Jon Hans' mark of 31:47.18 set back in April 2005.
 
Horizon League Top Field Athletes of the Week
Among the top athletes for Detroit last weekend in Cincinnati was sophomore Aisha Potts-Tyre of the women's team. Potts-Tyre was fourth in the heptathlon at Cincinnati with a total of 3851 points and she won the 100 meter hurdle portion of the competition with a time of 15.11. Senior Eric Lewis of the men's team made his return to the hammer throw after not participating in the outdoor track season a year ago. He finished fourth with a throw of 56.31m for the Titans. Lewis was also sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 42.41m.
 
Senior Recognition
Detroit will recognize its seniors from both the men's and women's teams following the open mile run. The UDM women have 11 seniors to be honored in Liz Arroyo, Lauren Berlin, Stephanie Blanchard, Stephanie Cuniberti, Ciara Curley-Poppe, Torrie Eger, Brandee Hart, Allyson Koglin, Whitney Rogers, Bri Soule, and Kayla Zauner. The UDM men have seven seniors in Charles Anthony, Anthony Donald, Sam Felton, Steven Ivanics, Martin Nelkie, Joe Raffin, and Jeffrey Senecal. Following the presentations, Oakland seniors will also be recognized. 

Eligible Athletes
This meet is open to men and women collegiate teams from The University of Detroit Mercy, Oakland University, and Unattached athletes. It is not open to high school or age class competitors. Unattached athletes must contact the race director for meet entry. The 2013 Dual will be a scored meet, scored according to NCAA rule 7 section 1.

History
2014 marks the 9th annual dual meet between Detroit and Oakland. Overall, the Detroit men are 7-1 and the women are 6-2.
