Recap Of Last Year's Event
DETROIT (4/17/2014) – One of the newest and best traditions at Detroit is back for its fourth year as the Annual Titan Club Basketball Camp For Special Needs Players will be held on Monday, June 30, inside historic Calihan Hall. The event is sponsored by the University of Detroit Mercy and the Titan Club.
The camp is open to kids 12 years of age and older and is designed for persons with trainable mental impairment (TMI), educable mental impairment (EMI) & other developmental or physical disabilities. and all abilities are welcome. The campers will practice fundamental basketball training all on Dick Vitale Court and parents and guardians are welcome to stay and watch.
The cost to attend the camp is #15 and includes a camp T-shirt and tour of Calihan Hall. Families who may need financial assistance can also inquire about camp sponsorships.
Titan Club members and others who would like to help with the event can do so in a few ways by:
- - Sponsoring a camper for as little as $15, to defray the costs for families who may need financial assistance.
- - Volunteer at the event, in one of many needed capacities. Return the volunteer registration form to Titan Athletics if you choose to sponsor or volunteer.
- - Help spread the word by passing the camp flyer on to any families you know who have special needs athletes.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday, June 25, and all you have to do is stop by Titan Athletics to sign up today, or mail the registration form linked at the top of the story to:
