Charles Anthony and
Khalil Parris were both the top qualifiers in their respective events on Saturday and both will headline their finals on Sunday at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Youngstown, Ohio. A lightning delay did not stop Anthony from running the best qualifying mark in the 100 meter dash or Parris the top time in the 400 meter run.
Anthony entered the competition with the top mark in the Horizon League in the 100 meter dash at 10.70 and finished the day with the top qualifying mark entering the finals at 10.80. Both Anthony and
Brandon Wilks will be in the 100 meter finals on Sunday as Wilks had the third-best qualifying time of 10.89.
Parris was the top qualifier in the 400 meter race finishing with a time of 48.50 and advancing to the finals on Sunday.
Anthony also qualified for the 200 meter finals with a time of 21.88.
Ilia Panev had a personal best of 14.94 in the 110 meter hurdles to become the eighth Titan to record a time under 15 seconds. Both Panev and
Steven Ivanics, who finished just ahead of Panev at 14.90, advanced to the finals on Sunday.
Panev also advanced to the finals in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal record of 56.00.
Anthony Donald will join Panev in the 400H finals as Donald had a qualifying time of 59.36.
Joshua Carolin had a mark of 1:54.58 in the 800 meters and he advanced to the finals.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase,
George Holman just finished out of scoring position placing seventh with a time of 9:50.05.
The UDM men's team currently sits in fifth place with 22 points.
