DETROIT (8/11/2014) -- Former Cincinnati standout Shareese (Ulis) McBrayer enjoyed a great career on the court and now her coaching career will continue in the Motor City as she was named a graduate assistant coach for the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team.
 
"Shareese is a great addition to our staff," said head coach Autumn Rademacher '97. "She is from the Midwest and had an outstanding playing career at Cincinnati."
 
"I am just excited to be here and to help this program win as well as learn as much as possible from this great staff," added McBrayer.
 
McBrayer spent the last three years coaching college and high school. Last season, she served as an assistant women's basketball coach at Moberly Area Community College, helping the squad finish 21-7. The Greyhounds also had five players sign with Division I programs following the season.
 
Prior to that, she was an assistant coach with her alma mater Waite High School (2012-13) and Start High School (2011-12) in her hometown of Toledo.
 
"After college, she gained valuable experience at Moberly Community College as an assistant coach and was responsible for all aspects of the game," said Coach Rademacher. "She recruited, scouted, developed players, worked with travel, equipment, and video. She has already been exposed to the majority of the responsibilities she will have here so we are ecstatic to have Shareese onboard."
 
McBrayer began her college playing career at Trinity Valley Community College (2007-09) in Athens, Texas, where she guided the Lady Cardinals to the NJCAA National Tournament as a freshman and sophomore. As a sophomore she averaged 12.0 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game, while being named All-Conference and honorable mention All-Region 14.  At Cincinnati, she started all 59 games in her two years averaging 11.4 points as a junior and 13.7 points as a senior, 14th in the BIG EAST.
 
In high school, she was named the Toledo Player of the Year on three occasions, District Player of the Year twice, and was a member of the All-State Team twice. She was also nominated for the McDonald's All-American Team as a senior and finished her career as the all-time leading scorer in Waite High School history.
 
McBrayer and husband, Christopher, have a two-year old son, Cason. She graduated from Cincinnati in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and is currently pursuing her masters in counseling at Detroit.
