DETROIT (8/13/14) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball program has added Arizona State transfer
Brandan Kearney to the roster for the 2014-15 campaign, head coach
Ray McCallum announced before departing to Vancouver for the Titans summer trip.
Â
Kearney, a 6-6 swingman from Detroit, has one season remaining and has been approved by the NCAA for immediate eligibility.
Â
"We are proud to welcome Brandan back home to join the Titan family," McCallum said. "He is a local product and brings experience to our roster and is a great addition to our program."
Last season with the Sun Devils, Kearney played 6.5 minutes per game, averaging 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.
Â
As a sophomore at Michigan State, he played 16.9 minutes and averaged 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game before transferring to Arizona State.
Â
Kearney was named to the
Detroit Free Press' All-Metro and All-Detroit teams and was rated the No. 28 small forward in the nation by
Rivals.com. He helped lead Southeastern to a 23-4 record, including its first Detroit Public School League title in 55 years and its first state final appearance in 85 years.
