Kearney Eligible to Play With #DetroitsCollegeTeam This Season

DETROIT (8/13/14) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball program has added Arizona State transfer Brandan Kearney to the roster for the 2014-15 campaign, head coach Ray McCallum announced before departing to Vancouver for the Titans summer trip.

Kearney, a 6-6 swingman from Detroit, has one season remaining and has been approved by the NCAA for immediate eligibility.

"We are proud to welcome Brandan back home to join the Titan family," McCallum said. "He is a local product and brings experience to our roster and is a great addition to our program."

Last season with the Sun Devils, Kearney played 6.5 minutes per game, averaging 1.2 points and 0.7 rebounds per game.

As a sophomore at Michigan State, he played 16.9 minutes and averaged 2.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game before transferring to Arizona State.

Kearney was named to the Detroit Free Press' All-Metro and All-Detroit teams and was rated the No. 28 small forward in the nation by Rivals.com. He helped lead Southeastern to a 23-4 record, including its first Detroit Public School League title in 55 years and its first state final appearance in 85 years.
