UDM Announces Changes to Titan Athletic Club and CAL Club for 2014-15

2014-15 Titan Athletic Club/CAL Club Donor Level Benefits

DETROIT (8/6/2014) --
The University of Detroit Mercy has announced changes to its Titan Athletic Club and Calihan Athletic Leaders (CAL) Club for the upcoming 2014-15 year.

To help enhance the student-athlete and alumni experience, the giving levels have been modified to $100-$1,499 for the Titan Athletic Club and a minimum of $1,500 for the CAL Club. Current members of both booster clubs will also be able to take advantage of a "grace" period until Oct. 1. Those that submit and sign a pledge or make an additional gift to the new donor levels will not only receive the benefits for the 2014-15 athletic year, but for the 2015-16 season as well. There will also be ample time for current members to not lose any prior benefits.

UDM will also offer a more-exclusive, VIP atmosphere inside the Titan Club Room at UDM basketball games (for Titan Athletic Club and CAL Club members who reach the $500 giving level). Starting for the 2014-15 season, the Titan Club Room will be opened one hour before each game for Titan Athletic Club and CAL Club members and a guest. The doors to the Titan Club Room will remain open throughout the game until one hour after the final buzzer.

Enhancements to the Titan Club Room on gameday feature hot food, televisions streaming the contest and additional security. The changes to the in-game Titan Club Room experience will start Nov. 1 as the Titans open their home schedule with an exhibition game against Siena Heights at Calihan Hall.

"Times have changed and the environment is different," UDM Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. said. "We actually have a plan to move the program forward and become current and relevant within the marketplace. The goal is to incrementally grow the brand and increase the value of brand.
We have met with the Titan Club Board and listened and received feedback about the changes to the Titan Athletic Club and CAL Club."

Formed back in 1940s, the Titan Club and the more exclusive CAL Club designations recognize alumni, parents, former student-athletes and friends of Detroit Titan Athletics who have banded together to provide financial support for the University's 19 intercollegiate athletic programs. The minimum $500 level gets members into the Titan Club on men's basketball gamedays and the opportunity to purchase a VIP parking pass for $100, among other benefits. The $1,500 donation, for admittance into the CAL Club nets members two season tickets for UDM men's basketball games, two season passes for women's contests, two season passes for home men's lacrosse matches and one complimentary VIP parking pass, as well as all of the benefits of Titan Athletic Club members.

"We are hoping to increase donor dollars in an effort to provide the best student-athlete experience as possible," Assistant Athletic Director for Development Michael Miller said. "By offering a stronger student-athlete experience, we're keeping pace with our peer institutions. The hope is to offer club members a more exclusive/VIP feel."

Other updates to the club include a "Party-in-the-Paint" dinner on the Calihan Hall basketball court floor at a time yet to be determined for members who reach the $2,500 plateau. Donors who make a gift of $5,000 or more will also receive in-game recognition at a UDM home game of their choice.
