Titan Classic Sports Network Launches on Labor Day

DETROIT (9/2/14) – After a summer filled with commercials and sneak peeks, the University of Detroit Mercy's 24-hour sports network - Titan Classic Sports Network (TCSN) - was officially released to the public as an over-the-air channel yesterday (Labor Day) by WADL. TCSN is on Channel 38.4 in the local Detroit media market as well as on the McNichols campus on Channel 10.4.

TCSN opened by showing the 2013 Michigan Emmy award winning episode Legends & Traditions of the Titan Court Report, followed by the 1977 men's basketball game at Marquette (which ended with Dick Vitale dancing) and the 2004 home game against Butler. TCSN then leaped ahead a decade to show the women's 2013 basketball WBI championship victory against McNeese State.

"The Titan Classic Sports Network in partnership with WADL will provide an incredible experience for alumni, fans, supporters and friends of our historic program," said Robert C. Vowels, Jr. Detroit Titans Director of Athletics.

With the launching of TCSN UDM becomes just the third school in the nation to have its own TV Network, with BYU and Texas being the other two. Texas is the only other school to have a 24-hour sports network with the launching of the Longhorn Network in 2011.

TCSN will continue to show classic sports moments from the past in basketball and football, along with instant classics and shows from this upcoming season.
