LAST OUTINGJuwan Howard Jr. scored 19 points – 13 in the second half – but it wasn't enough as Green Bay used a second half run to sneak away with a 70-64 win over the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team on Saturday during Homecoming at Calihan Hall.

Detroit (9-10, 3-2 HL) led 30-27 at the half and 37-32 with 16 minutes remaining, before Green Bay (15-4, 4-1 HL) used a 12-1 run to take a lead it would not relinquish.
The Titans would battle back to tie the game 57-57 with 4:21 left and had a chance to regain the lead, but Howard was called for a lane violation while making a free throw. The Phoenix then made a 3-pointer on its ensuing possession to take the lead for good.

The Titans were called for three lane violations on the day, two during made free throws.
Howard finished with 19 points, five assists and two rebounds, while junior
Anton Wilson added 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman
Jaleel Hogan pitched in nine points, while Horizon League Freshman of the Week
Paris Bass added seven to go along with five rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and a steal.

ABOUT NORTHEASTERNFive Huskies scored in double-figures on Saturday as the Northeastern men's basketball team held off a late rally to down the College of Charleston, 69-67, at Matthews Arena.Â
Junior Zach Stahl posted his fourth career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while junior David Walker scored a team-high 14 points to help the Huskies (13-5, 5-1 CAA) win their fourth straight game.Â
Sophomore T.J. Williams (12 points), senior Scott Eatherton (11 points) and redshirt junior Quincy Ford (10 points) also scored in double-figures for Northeastern, which moved to 7-0 in Saturday games this season.
Joe Chealey scored a game-high 23 points for the Cougars (6-13, 1-5 CAA), while Adjehi Baru (13 points) and Canyon Barry (11 points) also reached double figures in scoring.
The Huskies out-rebounded Charleston, 32-22, and shot 53.5 percent from the field (23-for-43), including 7-for-14 from beyond the arc.Â
SERIES WITH THE HUSKIESThis will be the third meeting between Detroit and Northeastern, with the all-time series tied 1-1. The Huskies won the first matchup 73-68 during the 2004-05 season at Matthews Arena, before the Titans evened the score with a 60-51 victory at Calihan Hall two years later.
DETROIT IN THE TOP-50Heading into Monday's game, Detroit finds itself ranked among the top-50 in the nation in three categories, three-point field goal percentage, turnover margin and steals per game. The Titans rank 23rd in turnover margin (+3.4), 45th in steals per game (8.1) and 45th in three-point field goal percentage (38.2).
HOWARD IS 26 AND CLIMBINGThis season, Detroit senior forward
Juwan Howard Jr. became the 39th Titan to join the 1,000-point club and currently ranks 26th all-time with 1,181 points. Former Titan Frank Russell '72 is next on the list as he ranks 25th overall with 1,188 points. Juwan Howard, Sr. scored 1,526 points at the University of Michigan from 1992-94 as part of the Fab Five.
TITANS PICKED THIRDDetroit was picked to finish third in the Horizon League preseason poll - voted on by the league's coaches, sports information directors and media members – while senior forward
Juwan Howard Jr. was named to the preseason first team at the Horizon League Men's Basketball Media Day at the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont.
Green Bay was selected as the favorite to win the league with 32 first place votes and 357 points overall, while Cleveland State was picked to finish second with 335 points, including nine first place votes. Detroit was slated to place third with 239 points, while Valparaiso was picked fourth with 228 points.

Wright State is projected to finish fifth totaling 186 points, ahead of sixth-place and defending Horizon League Tournament Champion Milwaukee's 182 points. Metro Series rival Oakland was picked seventh (178), followed by Youngstown State (95) and UIC (45).
The last time Detroit was picked among the top-three of the Horizon League preseason poll was the 2012-13 season when the Titans finished second in Horizon League play with a 12-4 mark and 20-13 overall, earning a trip to the NIT.
