DETROIT (1/24/2014) --
Senior Ellisha Crosby netted a game-high 17 points, but a quick start for Green Bay was too much to overcome as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell, 75-58, on Saturday afternoon at historic Calihan Hall.
 
Crosby also had seven rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Haleigh Ristovski tallied 11 points, seven rebounds and a team-best five assists and freshman Nicole Urbanick had four 3-pointers and tied her season high with 12 points.
 
Green Bay (15-3, 5-0 HL) got off to a red-hot start as the Phoenix nailed six of their first eight three-point attempts and raced out to an 18-0 lead. Green Bay then led by as many as 22, 27-5, with 11:41 left in the first when the Titans (7-12, 2-4) got back in the game with a 10-0 spurt.
 
Senior Brie Wilcox and Urbanick got the Titans going with back-to-back 3-pointers and after a steal, Reynolds nailed a jumper. On the next possession, she was fouled going to the rim and connected on both of her free throws to pull UDM within 12, 27-15.
 
The Titans later cut the deficit to 10 three times, the latest at 32-22 off a Crosby basket, but the Phoenix ended the half with seven-straight points for a 39-22 advantage.
 
Detroit finished the half shooting 40 percent (8-of-20) and that was after missing its first six shots from the field, while Green Bay was at 44.8 percent (13-of-29), but was 7-of-21 in the last 15 minutes.
 
The Phoenix tried to break the game wide open early in the second half, holding a 17-point lead with 11 minutes left, when Ristovski drilled back-to-back treys to make it 48-37 midway through the stanza. Green Bay recovered though and pushed its lead to as many as 20 after that.
 
Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds finished with seven points, four rebounds and two assists, while freshman Brianne Cohen added four points and two boards off the bench.
 
The Titans had 17 assists on its' 22 baskets as they shot 45.8 percent (22-of-48) for the game, including 12-of-27 (44.4%) from behind the arc.
 
UDM will have a light the schedule the next two weeks, playing just two games in the next 17 days starting with a trip to Youngstown State on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
 
Game Notes:
Green Bay now leads the all-time series, 42-7… Assistant coach Rick Albro was the interim head coach for today's game as head coach Autumn Rademacher was suspended one game for violations of NCAA rules pertaining to countable hours for student-athletes... Frozen's Elsa and Anna delivered the game ball today on Disney's Frozen Daddy Daughter Day…  There were 46 total made field goals in the game and 28 were 3-pointers… The Titans season high in assists was 22 against Marygrove… It was the fifth time this season that UDM has made 10 or more 3-pointers in a game… Darianne Seward was held scoreless for the first time this season… Crosby has now scored in double digits in nine-straight games…
