INDIANAPOLIS (1/26/15) - University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball freshman guard/forward Paris Bass has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season following his performance last week against a pair of first-place teams.
 
Bass won his League-best fourth Freshman of the Week award this season after leading the Titans to a 1-1 week. The lengthy freshman forced overtime in Detroit's non-conference game at Northeastern - currently tied for first in the Colonial Athletic Association - with a dunk with 28 seconds remaining. In overtime, Bass scored nine of the first 11 points as the Titans dominated the extra five minutes to win, 81-69. Bass finished the contest with a career-high tying 19 points, while shooting 8-of-14 from the field.
 
His dunk in the closing seconds was saluted with a No. 2 ranking on SportsCenter's "Top 10 Plays" on ESPN.
 
On Friday night, Bass again tied his career-high with 19 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field. He also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and first in Horizon League play.

Bass continues to pace all freshmen in the League in scoring (12.0), rebounding (6.0), steals (1.2) and blocked shots (19).

Detroit (10-11, 3-2) is in action three times this week, hosting Wright State on Monday night and Youngstown State on Thursday, before closing the week at Milwaukee on Saturday.
