DETROIT (1/3/15) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will look to snap its six game losing streak when the Titans host Milwaukee, the reigning Horizon League champions, on Sunday, Jan. 4. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at historic Calihan Hall and will be televised nationally on the American Sports Network with Dave Armstrong and Bob Donewald making the call.

Chris Jenkins recorded a new career-high with 14 points in his Horizon League debut, but it wasn't enough as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team dropped its league opener, 70-57, to Wright State Friday night at the Nutter Center. The loss was the Titans sixth-straight dating back to Dec. 13, 2014.

Detroit (6-9, 0-1 HL) led 35-34 with 16:13 left in regulation, before the Raiders put together a 21-5 run to build their largest lead of the game, 55-40, with 10 minutes left. The Titans would respond with a 7-0 run to trim the lead to eight, 55-47, with 7:24 remaining, but that was as close as the score would get as Wright State closed the game with a 15-10 run to earn it first win of league play.
Jenkins finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while senior forward
Juwan Howard Jr. scored a team-high 15 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Sophomore guard
Jarod Williams pitched in nine points, while
Brandan Kearney added six.
ABOUT MILWAUKEECleveland State (7-8,1-0 Horizon) shot 82 percent (23-for-28) from the field in the second half to collect an 84-57 victory over Milwaukee (5-10, 0-1 Horizon) Friday night at the Wolstein Center in the Horizon League opener for both teams. Matt Tiby and Steve McWhorter scored 16 points each to lead Milwaukee, which shot 35 percent (14-for-40) from the field for the night.

The game was a tale of two halves. In the first half, Milwaukee, the defending Horizon League Tournament champion, lived by the three shooting 38 percent (5-for-13) from beyond the arc to take a 30-27 lead at the break. The Panthers, who shot 42 percent from the field and held the Vikings to 36 percent in the opening period, led by as many as seven points (28-21).
SERIES WITH THE PANTHERSThis will be the 44th meeting between Detroit and Milwaukee, with the Panthers leading the all-time series 23-20. The two teams split their regular season meetings last year with both winning on the road, before the Panthers got the last laugh with an 83-73 win in the first round of the Horizon League Championship in Milwaukee.

UDM NIGHT AT THE PALACEFor the second-straight year, the Detroit Pistons will host a special University of Detroit Mercy Night when the Sacramento Kings visit the Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday, Jan. 4.

The Titans host Milwaukee in Horizon League action that same day at 1 p.m. at historic Calihan Hall, before the Pistons tip-off against the Kings at 6 p.m. There will be a special game ball presentation with Detroit Titans head coach

HOWARD IS 30 AND CLIMBINGDetroit senior forward
Juwan Howard Jr. recently became the 39th Titan to join the 1,000-point club and currently ranks 30th all-time with 1,111 points. Former Titan Desmond Ferguson '00 ranks 29th overall with 1,113 points. Juwan Howard, Sr. scored 1,526 points at the University of Michigan from 1992-94 as part of the Fab Five.

FIVE-GAME HOLIDAY TICKET PACKAGEThe University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics is helping kick off the holiday season by announcing a five-game Horizon League Holiday Pack for just $55. For that price, Detroit Titans fans will get men's basketball tickets to five Horizon League home games in 2015 at historic Calihan Hall.
In addition, the first 25 fans that purchase the Holiday Pack will also receive a free Titan coffee mug (one per pack).
The tickets are good for upper reserved seating and the ticket package opens with the highly anticipated first men's basketball meeting of the season between Detroit and Oakland on Jan. 10 in what is also the first men's basketball Metro Series rivalry meeting.
The other four conference home games in the package are against league favorite Green Bay on Jan. 17, UIC on Feb. 8, Cleveland State on Feb. 13 and Valparaiso on Feb. 25 for the regular season finale. The games are locked in and not interchangeable for another home game.

METRO SERIESThe rivalry between the University of Detroit Mercy and Oakland University, the Metro Series, will get a boost from the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame (MSHOF) and PASS Charters. The winner of the Metro Series will get $10,000 in scholarship funding and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Cup will be awarded to the winning teams between men's basketball and women's basketball.

The Titans and Golden Grizzlies are currently tied 4-4 in the Metro Series through the fall competition. Oakland opened the rivalry with a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory in men's soccer in Detroit, but the Titans rebounded with a 2-1 overtime win in women's soccer. Detroit and Oakland then split the cross country competition at the Horizon League Championships, with the Titans men's team winning its second-straight League Championship. The next clash between Detroit and Oakland will be in men's basketball on Saturday, Jan. 10, for a 3 p.m. tip inside Calihan Hall.
