DETROIT (11/25/2015) -- Senior year is all about reflecting on the career you have had and making sure that you get the most out of your season and for
Carlton Brundidge, you couldn't have asked for a better start.
Through three games, Brundidge is averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, shooting a staggering 55.6 percent. He has 18 assists on the season compared to just two turnovers – a phenomenal 9-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
"It has been exciting," said Brundidge. "I just feel very comfortable out there. I worked really hard this offseason getting my body in shape and losing weight and just rededicating myself."
Brundidge is coming off a career-high nine-assist performance against Michigan-Dearborn, where he also scored 10 points for this third-straight double-digit effort.
"Over the last few weeks, I challenged Carlton to make his teammates better and to make plays, and he has done a great job," said head coach
Ray McCallum. "He is making plays off the ball defensively and is making good decisions with the basketball, and it is really good to see."
For the fifth-year senior, the start is due to some hard work off the court and just playing with confidence on the hardwood. He started his career at Michigan and played in 15 games with the Wolverines in 2011-12. After sitting out the 2012-13 season due to NCAA transfer rules, he has seen action in 65 games as a Titan the last two years.
While there were some big games like the career-high 22 points at James Madison, 19 points against Stony Brook and 15 versus Cleveland State, his confidence had started to sway just a bit.
"It took some time to adjust when I transferred," said Brundidge. "It was like I almost sat out two years because I didn't play a lot my freshman year and I had to sit out my sophomore year so I really had to just get my confidence back."
All that adds up to a big senior year for the former All-State honoree. He started the season with 14 points and six rebounds against Central State and tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists at Pittsburgh. At the Pitt game, he showed some tremendous grit and determination as he injured his shoulder during the contest and had to be taken out, only to find his way back on the floor.
"This is my last year and I just want to go out with a bang," said Brundidge. "My confidence is up now so hopefully I can give Titan fans something to look forward too."
