College Sports Madness Players of the Week - Dec. 6
DETROIT (12/7/2015) -- University of Detroit Mercy sophomore guard
Nicole Urbanick (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Divine Child) has been named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Horizon League following her performance as the Titans defeated Cincinnati and Salem International last week.
Urbanick averaged 20.0 points in the two Detroit victories, scoring 16 points in a home victory over Cincinnati, before scoring a career-high 24 points in just 20 minutes in a triumph over Salem International. Urbanick topped her previous career-high by halftime against the Tigers, scoring 19 points in the first half, including 14 points in the second quarter. Urbanick hit six triples during the week, shot 48.3 percent from the floor and added seven total rebounds.
Following this weekend's games, Urbanick is tied for sixth in league at 15.0 points per game. She is second on the Titans in scoring and has scored in double figures in six of seven games this season. Urbanick also ranks seventh in the Horizon League with 2.4 3-pointers made per contest. She has 17 triples on the season.
It's the first College Sports Madness honor for a Detroit player this season.
The Titans (3-4) have won three-straight games for the first time since the 2012-13 season and will look to make it four-straight wins Wednesday, hosting IPFW at Calihan Hall for a 5 p.m. contest. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.com and the Watch ESPN Applications.
