YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (3/1/2015) -- Louisa Coppola won the third conference title of the weekend for the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team as the Titans wrapped up competition at the 2015 Horizon League Indoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State at WATTS on Sunday.
Detroit finished in fourth place overall out of seven teams in the Horizon League team standings, earning 62 points. Youngstown State won the team championship by one point over Milwaukee, 131-130.
Coppola won the mile for the second-straight year, leading the race from start to finish. She won the race over 18 other runners by more than three seconds with a time of 4:55.42. It was Coppola's second conference title of the meet as she anchored the DMR that captured the conference title on Saturday. Coppola also placed fourth in the 3,000 meter run on Sunday finishing with a time of 10:12.05, just a little more than a hour after winning the mile.
Junior
Allison Garner equaled her preliminary time in Sunday's finals, running 7.75 in the 60-meter dash to finish as runner-up in the event. Junior
Jessica Doherty also competed in the 60m placing eighth in 7.97.
Sophomore thrower
Ashley Bayles placed second in the shot put, earning eight points for the Titans. She smashed her PR in the event throwing a distance of 13.34 meters (43' 9.25") on her second throw. Senior
Lauren Berlin scored in her second throwing event of the meet placing fifth with a toss of 12.31 meters (40' 4.75").

Hana Hunt claimed a fifth-place finish in the high jump on Sunday, recording two points for Detroit. She earned a new personal best in the event by clearing 1.59 meters (5' 2.5").
Freshman
Sydnie Fetherolf placed sixth in the mile for Detroit, crossing in 5:12.93 and senior
Sara Taylor was 12th in 5:37.18.
Sophomore
Samantha Zakalowski earned a PR in the 800-meter run placing sixth with a time of 2:19.08.
Six Titans ran in the 3,000m as senior
Zeinab Baydoun ran a season-best time of 10:38.56 to place 15th out of 36 runners. Freshman
Taylor Smith had a time of 10:40.34, sophomore
Devon Sutton ran a time of 11:04.49, freshman
Jenny Ponkowski crossed in 11:09.60 and freshman
Sydney Shaw rounded out the Detroit competitors with a time of 11:30.43.
Junior Alexander Lindig placed 11th in the triple jump, reaching a season-best 10.51 meters (34'5.75"). Freshman
Delaney O'Rourke was the third thrower for Detroit in the shot put, placing eighth with a have of 10.92 meters (35'10").
