DETROIT (5/5/2015)
– Titan legend Rashad Phillips has teamed up with his Alma Mater, the University of Detroit Mercy to create the Boys Overnight College Regimen Camp, to give young men their first look at college life.

The inaugural camp runs for five days from August 10-14, 2015 on the beautiful campus of UDM. The campers will get the opportunity to stay overnight in the same dorms that Phillips did while also competing on Dick Vitale Court inside historic Calihan Hall.

While at UDM Phillips was a two-time Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Year (2000 & 2001). He received the 2001 Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as the leading player in the nation standing six-feet-tall and under. He was also a 2001 All-District honoree and honorable mention All-American.

He left the Titans and still is the all-time leading scorer in school history with 2,319 career points. Phillips also set the school record for three pointers made and was ranked second in steals. He is the only Titan in history to score 2,000 career points and record more than 500 assists.

Each camper will feel like they would if they were on a college basketball team. Their experience will take them through film sessions, structured practices, skill training and weight training sessions and full games with referees.

Along with the Skills Unlimited staff - one of the top training/mentoring programs in the state of Michigan - campers will be instructed by current UDM student-athletes. They will also be able to enjoy a simulated "March Madness" which will be played on Dick Vitale court!

On top of the athletic experience, campers will get to sit down with University of Detroit Mercy Admissions and gain an early understanding of what it takes to get into college.

The camp is open to all boys' grades 4-12 with all skill levels. The cost is just $500 per camper.

About Skills Unlimited
Skills Unlimited is a basketball program that Rashad Phillips created to develop and enhance the basketball skill levels in today's youth. SU provides small and large group training sessions to youth, ages five and up. The SU team is able to target each youth's potential and develop a tailored program that suits their individual needs. The sports ministry strives to mentor each child, assisting them to become valuable young men and women in life as well as on the court.

SU also stresses the importance of education with athleticism, encouraging students to be productive students as well as athletes. Discipline, sportsmanship and team skills are an integral part of the program as well. After individual skills are assessed, SU puts students together in small groups. This helps them learn how to work well with others and how to be effective teammates, achieving a winning and positive atmosphere!
