ROCHESTER, Mich. (5/3/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team had several top performances Sunday as the Titans concluded competition at the 2015 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted this weekend by Oakland University.
Detroit finished fourth out of seven teams with 83 points.
The Titans had a couple of runner-up finishes as well as several scoring efforts in the final day of competition
Graduate student
Louisa Coppola, who won the 10,000-meters in her collegiate debut in the event on Friday, placed second in the 5,000-meter run in 18:05.30.
Junior
Allison Garner placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.29, while also claiming fourth in the 200-meters in 25.31.
Sophomore
Jayona Dent earned fifth in the 400-meters in 58.49 and graduate student
Shannon Marchant was fifth in the 800-metes in a time of 2:15.30.
The 4x100-meter relay foursome of Dent, Garner and freshmen
Brogan Holmes and
Alyson Hamilton placed fourth in 47.57, while the 4x400 was third as Dent, Holmes, Marchant and freshman
Elizabeth Mullen recorded a time of 3:53.65.
Sophomore
Ashley Bayles and senior
Lauren Berlin placed third and fourth, respectively, in the hammer throw. Bayles had a throw of 44.64m/146' 5", while Berlin recorded a throw of 43.70m/143' 4". Freshman
Delaney O'Rourke made it three Titans in the top six by finishing sixth with a heave of 37.61 meters (123' 5").
