2015-16 MBB Schedule
DETROIT (6/24/2015) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will welcome MAC foe Bowling Green State University to historic Calihan Hall on Saturday, December 12 for the Titans fifth home game of the 2015-16 season.
This will be the 41st meeting between Detroit and Bowling Green, with the Titans leading the all-time series 23-17. BGSU has won the last four meetings including a 64-63 win at the buzzer last year in the Motor City. The last win for Detroit in the series was a 71-62 victory on Nov. 27, 2010 at Calihan Hall.
Detroit took the lead 63-62 with 2.4 seconds left, before Bowling Green was given a second chance with 2.2 seconds on the clock after
Matthew Grant nearly stole the ball on the ensuing inbounds play. With another chance, BGSU converted on a game-winning, contested lay-up just before the buzzer.
Paris Bass tallied 17 points, six rebounds and four steals for Detroit, while
Anton Wilson scored 13 points for the Titans, including converting 3-of-5 triples. Grant posted six points, six assists and two blocks for Detroit.
Over the 63 years since the opening of Calihan Hall, the men's basketball team has enjoyed a 594-240 (.712) homecourt record on campus, including a 10-6 record last season and a 70-36 ledger since head coach
Ray McCallum took over in 2008.
BGSU finished 21-12 last season, including a postseason appearance in the CIT Tournament. The 21 wins for BGSU was a nine game improvement over the previous season's total of 12 victories and was the first 20-win season for the Falcons since the 2001-02 team totaled 24 victories.
Detroit is scheduled to host six non-conference games this season at Calihan Hall, followed by nine Horizon League games in the Motor City.
