Women’s Basketball Hosts Two Successful Camps

DETROIT (6/19/2015) -- It was a fine way to begin the camp season for first-year head coach Bernard Scott as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team held two successful camps this week.

"It was a busy week, but a fun week for me, my staff and our players," said coach Scott. "We had a great turnout for the short amount of time that we had to put it together, but it was definitely worth it. From the little kids to start the week all the way to the high school players at the end, I saw a lot of talent and, more importantly, great attitudes which is extremely important to me."

Leading off the camp season was the First Annual Women's Basketball Kid's Camp, which gave the Titans a chance to work with some of the younger fans in the area. Working with kids in grades 3-8, the Titans were able to teach beginner and advanced skills to the kids.

Working with Titan coaches and players, the camp focused on the basic skills of basketball, all while providing a fun atmosphere for the three-day affair. All campers also received a Titan t-shirt.

After a break on Thursday, the annual High School Elite Camp made its way back to Dick Vitale Court. Over 40 campers attended the event, which featured some of the best talent in the local area.

All the participants took part in individual workouts and attended a NCAA rules education session, with Detroit coaches on hand for full evaluations.

The Titan women's basketball team and the University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics would like to thank all of those who attended the camp and would like to see all of those back at UDM for future events.
