2015-16 Women's Basketball Schedule
DETROIT (6/27/2015) -- In the midst of a four-game homestand will be the Salem International Tigers as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team will host the Division II school on December 5.
The Saturday contest will be a doubleheader with the men's team as the Titans welcome defending CAA champions Northeastern. The times of both games have not been released yet.
For the women, it marks the fifth home regular season non-conference affair of the year for Detroit following the season and home opener versus Bradley on Nov. 13, in-state rival Michigan on Nov. 15, Niagara on Nov. 29 and Cincinnati on Dec. 2.
The Niagara contest is the start of a four-game home swing that will conclude with an opponent that will be released on Monday.
This is the first official meeting between Detroit and Salem International as the two squads met last year on Nov. 8 at Detroit for an exhibition, won by the red, white and blue 85-61.
The Tigers play in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) under Southfield native and former Oakland assistant coach Lester Harbin. The team had four members from the state of Michigan on the squad last year, but are set to lose two of their top three scorers from a year ago.
Detroit is scheduled to host seven regular season non-conference games at Calihan Hall this season, followed by nine Horizon League contests. The ninth is due to the addition of Northern Kentucky to the league for the upcoming year.
The Titans have announced a home non-conference game every day rotating back and forth between the men's and women's basketball teams in the past two weeks. The men's home non-conference schedule is now all released, while the women still have a couple of games to go.
Next week will see the full non-conference schedule for both programs released to the public.
