DETROIT (6/15/2015) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team is scheduled to begin its 111th season of competition on Monday, Nov. 16 when the Titans host Central State at historic Calihan Hall. This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two squads.
During the 63 years since the opening of Calihan Hall, the men's basketball team has enjoyed a 594-240 (.712) homecourt record on campus, including a 10-6 mark last season and a 70-36 ledger since head coach
Ray McCallum took over in 2008.
Central State finished 18-12 overall last year including a postseason run to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals. But this season will mark the Marauders first year as members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) after the announcement was officially made in March.
Central State was a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference since its inception in 2011. CSU recently celebrated a 10-year anniversary of achieving NCAA Div. II status, which dates back to 2004. Prior to joining the NCAA, Central State competed as a member of the NAIA.
Detroit is scheduled to host six non-conference games this season at Calihan Hall, followed by nine Horizon League games in the Motor City.
New season tickets are currently on sale starting at just $99. Season ticket renewal information is also available by calling the Titan Ticket Office (313) 993-1700.
