DETROIT (8/11/2015) --
Two University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball players are getting an opportunity of a lifetime as sophomore Jaleel Hogan and redshirt freshman Aaron Foster-Smith are currently playing overseas with the Global Sports Academy.

The Titans will be in Europe for nine days playing five games in Belgium, England, Germany, and Holland. Outside of practice and playing, all the participants will get a chance to learn and visit some of the most beautiful cities in the world in Amsterdam, Bornheim, Brussels, Bruges, Cologne, Düsseldorf and London.

Foster-Smith redshirted last season after starring at Truman High School and was selected to the News Herald All Downriver 'Dream Team' for the second year in a row. He was also selected to the Detroit News 'All-Metro West First Team' and the Class A All-State Third Team.

Hogan saw action in all 33 games as a true freshman last season and averaged 5.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. He posted four double-digit scoring games and took home the Most Courageous Award at the end-of-the-year banquet.

Foster-Smith was assigned to an all-star team coached by Jay Duncan, the director of basketball operations at SMU, while Hogan will be playing with an all-star team coached by Gus Hauser, assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Since 1991, Global Sports Academy has been arranging tours for college and youth teams from the United States and countries around the world to promote international competition and goodwill.  Not only do athletes learn valuable lessons through participating in their respective sports in other countries, but they also enjoy the experiences of a lifetime by being exposed to different cultures, languages, and environments and performing community service while abroad.
