DETROIT (8/18/2015) -- Titan fans already had a lot to look forward to this season when they come out to Calihan Hall, and you can add one more item to the list with the announcement of a new sound system.
"I talked to alums, fans, and coaches, and one of the biggest areas we needed to improve was fan experience and engagement," said Director of Athletics
Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "With the new scoreboard and sound system, I feel very confident that there will be a dramatic increase in the atmosphere inside of Calihan Hall."
Working with
I.COMM - a local company based out of Farmington Hills with University of Detroit graduate Fred Shuart serving as President - the sound system will include the installation of a new loudspeaker cluster and a mid-sized tri-amplified line array of speakers with extended fidelity. As part of the design, a new DBX model 220i system processor will guide the system to the acoustical properties of Calihan Hall.
It will also include eleven new reference line amplifiers to power the loudspeaker array.
"Both projects involve a lot of planning, but everyone can see the commitment we have to our fan base, alumni, coaches and student-athletes," said Director of Operations
Drew Westrick. "Calihan Hall is already a great place to watch a game and the videoboard and sound system is just going to add to that."
Back in late May, Detroit announced plans to install a four-sided, center-hung videoboard/scoreboard for the 2015-16 basketball season. That project already began in July with the removal of the old scoreboard with the new one set to make its arrival in the fall.
The four-sided, high-definition main videoboard will hang directly above Dick Vitale Court, with full LED video capabilities, including video and instant replay. The display will be used for highlights, graphics, game presentation and other animation to enhance the fan gameday experience.
New season tickets for basketball are currently on sale starting at just $99. Season ticket renewal information is also available by calling the Titan Ticket Office at 313-993-1700.
