 All-Time Series Titans trail, 24-21

DETROIT (1/21/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will look to end its skid on the road as the Titans head to the state of Wisconsin to battle the Panthers of Milwaukee on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. (EST) at UWM Panther Arena. There will not be a radio broadcast, but fans can watch all the action on ESPN3.com and the Watch ESPN App or follow along with live stats.

Detroit (9-8, 3-3 HL) has dropped three in a row after starting the Horizon League campaign with three-straight wins. Two of the losses have come down to the wire with close setbacks to Oakland and Wright State.

Sophomore Paris Bass led the Titans their last time out by tying his career high with 28 points, his second-straight 20-point game and fifth of the season. Senior Anton Wilson had 16 points against the Raiders and how has 170 career 3-pointers, fifth in school history, with his 51 on the year just five shy of his career best.

UDM will stay in the Badger State as it visits Green Bay on Monday. The Titans return home next week hosting Northern Kentucky (Jan. 29) and Wright State (Jan. 31), with the game against NKU featuring the jersey retirement of NBA Hall Of Famer Spencer Haywood.

DETROIT VS. MILWAUKEE
This will be the 46th career meeting between the two schools as Milwaukee has won three of the last four and leads the overall series, 24-21.

The Titans are also 8-15 on the road in the series and have dropped their last two trips to Milwaukee.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Milwaukee has won nine of its last 12 and comes into the game at 13-6, 4-2 in the Horizon League. The Panthers had two wins in the non-conference over Big Ten schools on the road in Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as three road wins in HL play already with victories at Cleveland State, UIC and Youngstown State.

The Panthers have four players in double figures led by Matt Tiby, who is seventh in the league in scoring at 15.1 points and leads the HL in rebounding at 8.8 per night.

Akeem Springs is second on the team tallying 14.4 points and 5.1 rebounds, while Jordan Johnson is averaging 11.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 8.0 assists, second in the HL.

Milwaukee is fourth in the league in scoring at 78.1 and fourth in the league in defense letting up 70.1. The Panthers also top the league in free throw percentage (75.7%), field goal percentage (46.3%) and three-point field goals per game (9.1).

STRONG AT HOME
Detroit is 9-2 on Dick Vitale Court this season and winners of 12 out of its last 14 home games.

On the year, Detroit is averaging 88.9 points at home and allowing 78.5, all while shooting 49.0 percent from the field.

On the road, Detroit is 0-6 this season and 1-12 in its last 13 away from Calihan Hall. The lone victory was at Youngstown State last season, and the nine losses include a neutral site setback to Cleveland State in last year's Horizon League tournament.

On the road this season, Detroit is averaging 74.8 points (allowing 90.2).

POINTS, POINTS, POINTS
The Titans have had great offense all year as they are 15th in the nation - and third in the HL - in scoring averaging 83.9 points per game. UDM trails only Oakland (85.0) and Green Bay (84.2) in the HL.

The 83.9 points through 17 games is the best offensive start since Detroit averaged 92.6 points during the 1977-78 season under head coach Dick Vitale.

The Titans have also scored 90 or more points five times this year, the most since registering 90 or more five times during the 1991-92 campaign.

OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Detroit has scored at least 75 points in 13 of its 17 games, including 88 or more seven times and 90 or more on five occasions.

UDM has also made at least 30 field goals seven times this season and has posted 39 twice on the year.

The Titans are currently second in the Horizon League in shooting at 46.0 percent on the year, just a hair behind Milwaukee's 46.3.

In the last two games, the Titans have shot over 50 percent from the field posting 52.4 percent (33-of-63) - including 58.1 percent (18-of-31) in the second half - against Oakland and 50.0 percent (25-of-50) at Wright State.

Against UM-Dearborn, the Titans were 39-of-68 from the field (57.4%), including 15-of-27 (55.6%) from behind the arc.

In the wins over Toledo and Bowling Green, Detroit shot 49.1 and 47.1 percent, respectively, with 13 triples in each game.

In the victory over UCF, the Titans shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58), while in the triumph over Youngstown State, UDM was 33-of-69 (47.8%) and 25-of-29 (86.2%) at the line.

MAKING THEM COUNT
The Titans are attacking the rim and getting a chance at some easy points.

Detroit has visited the free throw line 188 times in the last six games, connecting on 135 (71.8%).

During this span Detroit was 31-of-39 (79.5%) at the line in the win over UIC, setting a season high in made free throws.

That was after going 25-of-29 (86.2%) in the win over Youngstown State and 28-of-42 (66.7%) in the triumph over Cleveland State.

The 42 free throws were the most since attempting 43 against Stony Brook in 2013.

ONE BIG FISH
Sophomore Paris Bass - who missed the first seven games due to a suspension for violation of team rules - has been a force on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

He just tied his career high for the third time with 28 points at Wright State, which also included six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.

That came after he posted 20 points, eight rebounds, a career-high six assists, three blocks and a steal against Oakland.

He registered his second double-double of the season and sixth of his career with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Valparaiso with his first double-double against Cleveland State with 28 points - 20 in the second half - 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals against Cleveland State.

The 13 boards and four steals were one shy of his career high, while the three blocks tied his career best.

LURKING IN THE WATER
Sophomore Paris Bass returned to action in a big way against Bowling Green as the reigning HL Freshman of the Year posted a team-high 25 points, while tallying eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. In his second game, he tallied 23 points in a win over UCF.

It was the first time he recorded back-to-back 20-point games in his career and he just tied that mark with 20 points against Oakland and 28 at Wright State.

Since he returned to the court, he has recorded double figures in nine of his 10 contests, pulled down seven rebounds in seven games and has had three assists or more seven times, not to mention five 20-point outings and two double-doubles.

He is averaging 19.0 ppg., 6.7 rpg., and 3.1 apg., and would rank second in the HL in scoring and seventh in rebounding if he had enough games to qualify.

WILSON!, OH WILSON!
Senior Anton Wilson was a man on a mission in the HL opening win over Youngstown State as he posted a career-high 34 points – including 26 in the second half.

Wilson was a career-best 10-of-18 shooting and 11-of-11 at the line with three treys.

Wilson tied his career high of 21 before he even hit his first three of the game.
The 34 points were the most by a Titan since Juwan Howard Jr. had 34 against Valpo in 2014.

He is one of seven HL players to net 30 or more in a game this season with his 34 markers tying for the fifth most in the HL.

WHAT A SENIOR YEAR
Senior Anton Wilson now has 16 double-digit scoring games on the year with three 20-point efforts.

He is currently leading the team in scoring at 15.4 ppg., - fifth in the HL. His 51 treys lead UDM and his 3.0 three-point field goals per game is second in the HL and 31st in the nation.

BASS NAMED TO LOU HENSON AWARD MIDSEASON WATCH LIST
Sophomore Paris Bass was selected to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List and he is still a candidate for the award as he was recently named to the Mid-Season Watch List.

He is one of four Horizon League players on the list joining Oakland's Kay Felder, Milwaukee's Matt Tiby and Valpo's Alec Peters.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.

The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who coached 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.

The recipient of the award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Award Presentation on April 1 in Houston, site of the men's Division I national championship.

#1 SHOOTING 3'S
Sharpshooting senior Anton Wilson continues to make his name show up in the Titan record books.

His 51, 3-pointers on the season are just five behind his career-high of 56 last year.

With his four triples in the season opener, he passed Titan legend and 12-year NBA veteran Willie Green and is now fifth in school history with 170 career 3-pointers.

He is also currently second in UDM history with a 41.7 three-point field goal percentage.

EASY POINTS
Senior Anton Wilson is a career 83.8 percent shooter at the free throw line connecting on 114-of-136 career attempts.

He does not have enough free throw attempts to qualify for the school record book, or his career percentage would rank fourth.

GERALD'S CASE

He is third on the team with 4.4 rebounds and 10.2 points per game, all while shooting 58.2 percent, second in the HL.

PAINT MAN
With his strength, sophomore Jaleel Hogan is uncanny in the paint showcased by his career 59.9 (133-of-222) field-goal percentage.

Last season, he ended the year with a blistering 62.0 field goal percentage (62-of-100), which would rank third in school history for a single season, but was 25 shot attempts shy from qualifying for that mark.

CB'S FINAL STAND
